And in addition to Joe Namath, we have Sam Davis selling Humana insurance and Bill Engvals selling Health Markets. But hopefully we'll see much less after this weekend.

They're called PI (per inquiry) ads. The stations get paid a cut of the sale price if one of their viewers buys one of the products. No sale, no $$. All the really cheezy "not sold in stores" ads are this type. They mostly run on the cable channels that run nothing but old reruns from 40 or 50 years ago whose viewers are too old to be of interest to any legitimate advertisers.

So who pays all the royalties for anyone appearing in the ads?...The unions make sure things are on the up and up because they get a cut too...I think you'll find most all broadcast and cable advertising is sold in lots of seconds...it's not the Internet...!

Thank progress for DVR's. I pretty much only watch commercials during Super Bowl. And even that is not all that!

Yeah, and he's advertising for the company that I first contacted, and the guy I talked to on the phone told me he thought I'd have to come up with $10k or more to qualify, but that he'd mail me some literature. I contacted another company and their rep came to the house, did all the paperwork herself, and got me some cash up front.
