2017 Mahindra 5570
Hi all, been a lurker for awhile and have stumbled onto an issue and needing some guidance.

My 5570 with stock OEM rear remotes(as in both) have developed a leak. They are leaking out the top and the bottom of what I would call the main cylinder that moves up and down in response to the levers.

While were not talking significant gushing its a pretty decent leak and its making a mess. Are these something that can be rebuilt or is it a replace situation?

Some photos would help. I’m sure someone will recognize the leaky part and know what can be done.

I've tried to get good pictures but its tight. The cylinder running along the red line and travels up and down when the levers are moved. Its leaking out the top under that dust cover and out the bottom. I can't get a good view of the bottom there just isn't room. It does feel as though there is a maybe pressure release hole in the bottom but I cant see anything to know what is there.

Absolutely know how to fix this. Same thing happened to mine. The seal that is used in that valve is called a quad ring. Looks like an o ring but instead of being round it’s a four sided ring that fits into a groove inside the housing and the valve shaft goes through it. The parts are not available from mahindra but they will be glad to send you a complete valve assembly for around 1100 bucks. The part you need can be found at most any hydraulic cylinder repair shop and it is a simple fix once the valve body is removed from the tractor. Supply house didn’t even charge me for the new ring as it would have cost him more in time than what it was worth to look up a cost. What you will notice is the ring that comes out of the valve from the factory is very stiff and from what I was told was not the correct material for what it was used for. Changed mine with a softer more pliable material in the same size and have never had another leak. I realize I’m several days late seeing this but hope it helps anyway. Please don’t fall for the line from the dealer about having to replace the entire valve body, it is a simple fix that at most may cost $1.00 and a little time.

Also, Incase you get to looking for one and do not have the old one for comparison, the size you need is 3/4”id x 1”od x 1/8”. I’m sure the one Mahindra used was probably a metric size of some sort but this one works perfectly.

Pardon me NOTUCK for piggy backing on here but my 5555 joystick leaks and makes a mess. Dealer replaced the valve once under warranty but it promptly began leaking again. Would a similar fix work? Disassemble and replace O-rings?

That’s exactly what I would do. It’s been my experience that the o rings and seals used by whoever builds these valves aren’t of the best quality. Haven’t found any scoring or pitting that would cause leaks and the tolerances have been good, so I’m not displeased with the casting and machine work, just crappy, almost hard plastic like quad rings that let fluid pass by them. You will actually notice that the valves will feel like they move more smoothly once they are rebuilt with good seals as well.

Awesome thanks for the heads up. So once I pull the valve bodies off it should be clear how to get the whole body apart correct? Unfortunately the the whole assembly is tucked up to where I cant see anything other than the oil comes out the top and bottom.

Right now I'm gonna have to live with the leak until winter hay feeding gets over with but once I catch a break it looks like a tear down is in order.

My tractor has been nothing but a pleasure but after 200 hours I'm starting to find knick knack leaks that I am trying to get fixed up.

My banjo bolt attaching the fuel hose to the filter has leaked since about 20 hours. Been through half a dozen crush washers, rubber washer, filed faces on the parts, still leaks very, very little but the radiator fan blows the droplets all over everything. I'm not convinced there isn't the smallest crack known to man in the metal part of the hose right next to the banjo fitting.

Banjo bolts on the front steering hydraulics were leaking but a tighten job seems to have fixed them.

Still have coolant randomly on top of where the oil filter screws in. Its there sometimes and sometimes not haven't figured that one out completely but I'm only loosing about a gallon every hundred hours so far so nothing too major.

Thanks for the help!

I figured I would follow this up for anyone else that runs into this problem.

I attempted to take the valve bodies and the hard hydraulic lines to the remotes themselves off together in one group. It could be done and would likely be easier with removal of the rear tire cover but I fished them out and back in without removing a lot of items. 2 major notes....take pictures of the hard lines and how they are installed so its not guess and check on re-install.

Once their out, they are really easy/simple to take apart. I couldn't find a hydraulic shop locally that had the correct quad ring so I substituted for standard o-rings.

I'm really glad to find this post. I just picked up a 5570 w/86 hours on it and this valve is leaking. I've attached a couple of pictures of the valve without the controls connected. The close up is after I wiped that area clean and had run the tractor for only a couple of minutes. It starts leaking around the stem immediately. Thanks for posting this thread!
