I never stop in a bar while riding unless to eat, I NEVER drink while riding. Always thought that was stupid, not just because of the obvious but if its a nice enough day to ride, WHY sit in a bar????? I have stopped in a few Dairy Queens while out though..

I have a couple of Harley's. One is a Roadglide CVO the other is a Street Glide CVO ( actually a Road King but it now has a fairing instead of a windshield ) .. comfort wise ..for me.. it's hard to beat the RG, SG frame set up. I have sat onIndians, ..too small for my 6-2" body, the Goldwing has a very odd seating position.... I'm not a fan of having my feet pointed down. Rather have them infront of me

I’ve been riding BMWs for years. The typical story about the BMW rider is that’s he’s riding in an expensive riding suit, and he only rides to the nearest Starbucks. I’ve been everywhere on mine, including Prudhoe Bay Alaska. While riding in Alaska I saw a lot of Harleys and Goldwings.
I’ve never thought drinking alcohol and riding were a good combination, but I do like a ice cream cone on a hot day. And I just can’t make myself lay out $5.00 for a cup of coffee.

I ride my Harley to Chesaning for hand dipped ice cream, or to Owosso for frozen custard. Too much traffic around Frankenmuth, but for the longest time the gas station kitty-corner from Kern's (sausage) was the last to have separate nozzles for each grade. Nice to top up when it doesn't begin with a hoseful of 'regular'.

A favorite ride is to Rheinbolds, North of there where I get Dixon parts and drool over the Royal Enfield 500 singles and Ural w/sidecars on the showroom floor. ('been a year or more, not sure they still sell RE). edit: Not any longer.

Meanwhile my 'Wing-riding friends are all in their 70s (me too in 6 mos). They're at the restaurant discussing their SUVs over coffee. Well, that or riding out of state.

I rode sweeper for BMW factory rides for a number of years at a local dealership, nice to get to try out all the different bikes they had to offer! Man that 1000 RR was a screamer!

Guy I know from the local Goldwing Road Riders club was trying to get me to join a few years back, and noted that, "Harley clubs ride form bar to bar, but Goldwing clubs ride form restaurant to restaurant." I never did join. Group rides are fun once in awhile, but I've always preferred just me and The Wife on a 2-lane highway somewhere without a crowd or someone else deciding when and where we stop.

The only previous bike I really miss was my '89 BMW R100RT. Great bike. Happy with a Goldwing now, though, and it'll get replaced with another Wing.

If I had the time ot do the cross country thing I would own a Goldwing. Hard to believe how well they handle for their size.
