Why do you all subscribe to threads? I have never subscribed to any thread. I read all threads if they interest me. The ones with titles that don't interest me I don't read.

Several things I would like to see:

A "subscribe" button so that a person could subscribe to an interesting thread without cluttering the thread with one or two words that don't add anything to the thread.

There is a subscribe button, it just takes two clicks to get to it:

I click the control panel option, no emails. I have the "My Home" page bookmarked. When I have time to check TBN I click the bookmark, "My Home" opens and shows any activity on threads that I have posted on or subscribed to.

In the evening I click "New Posts" and read what looks interesting.

I wish the Forum name was the second column instead of Replies and Views, because sometimes the thread title isn't very descriptive, but it is in a Forum I am interested in.

It won't affect the way I use the forum but if it helps, go for it!

Obviously we use TBN in different ways. :)

For new people, it's probably good to have a variety of topics. When I started, I wanted learn about the different brands, but after buying my tractor, I spent all of my time on here reading about ways to improve the land and building barns. If you where to reorganize, I think that there might be a way to focus more on those types of projects and getting them all together. I find what I like the most in the Projects, Rural Living and Build It Yourself areas. But like others have said, I first click on Todays Posts and scroll through for the green dots that I've already posted in and see if there is anything interesting in those threads first. They I scroll through the titles to see what catches my eye. Then I'll click on Projects, Rural Living and Build It Yourself for a closer look at what might be new that I missed. Rarely do I look anywhere else.

It might be helpful to have a - "For new members section". How to find posts & topics, how to develop a new post, posting pictures, etc. Otherwise - I like TBN the way it is right now.

Most new members have problems posting pictures.

Most pictures posted from cell phones are huge and taken in Portrait Mode. Should be in Landscape Mode to show what is needed.

Eddie has really good comments. I do very much the same in terms of looking at "Today's Posts," projects, and brand-specific forums.

Maybe off topic a little, but I have seen multiple members comment that threads from "Friendly Politics" are nearly always appearing at the top of "Today's Posts." This is at least in part due to just a single user, who is flooding the FP threads with post-after-post-after post. It goes on day in and day out with rarely a break. Sometimes throughout 12 hours per day. That user averages maybe 75 posts per day, probably on a good day over 100. And exceeding 50,000 posts total now. Many of those posts are links to third party sites.

If the forum had a buffer that would disallow repeated posts in quick succession, it would be helpful. If there was a total daily limit, even something excessive such as 25 or 50 posts per day, it would help curb the flood. Regular members would not probably ever know such a limit even exists as I believe few people post a lot of things every day.

To deal with a user who is flooding the forum, you can put them on your Ignore List, or just scroll by. But that doesn't change these threads from being dominant in "Today's Posts" more than they probably should be. Every one of those "flood" posts pushes the topic up to the top of the stack. And inevitably, with these threads constantly appearing in Today's Posts, users see them, which tends to drive traffic to FP instead of elsewhere. Maybe you want that; maybe you don't.
