Toolcat to S185 skid steer to RZR 900 Comparison

Most skid steers are construction grade equipment. I would suspect that the tool cat is not in that class.

With as many old Toolcats that are still around and running, I would suspect that you are suspecting wrong.

Were the Toolcats used in construction? I look at every piece of consruction equipment I drive by. I don't think I have ever seen a single toolcat on a consruction site. Any more than seeing a CUT, SCUT or JD 110 for that matter. Just posting my observations.

Your point was Toolcats are not construction grade equipment.

My point is they are construction grade equipment, even if not used on a construction site.

Kinda like the difference between consumer grade mowing equipment and commercial grade mowing equipment.

I have seen a couple on construction jobs but not many. They are definitely construction grade equipment though.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree on that point. For starters, that delicate glass cab wouldn't last long on many sites.

Have you even sat in a toolcat? BTW... the "delicate" cab is a "ROPS/FOPS Approved Cab Structure". This is some of the testing for it to be rated as such:

Cab Certifications ROPS/FOPS/TOPS/OPS - ADC Equipment Innovations

J1119: Steel Products for Rollover Protective Structures (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structures (FOPS) - SAE International

Certainly have. Maybe fifteen years ago or so. Just because something can protect you to a standard, doesn't mean it won't get smashed to #$#$.

The reason, you ses many popular telehandlers on constriction sites with basically a steel cage and an operators seat.

Just comparing the Toolcat weight to other equipment or a skidsteer tells you something about the class of machine.

Do you know what they weigh? Say, compared to the OP's S185?

A Toolcat 5600 weighs 5685# and is 145" long (without an attachment)
A Bobcat S185 weighs 6220# and is 130" long.
That is a difference of 535# on a machine that is 15" longer.

I would say enough to make one think. I take my clues from what I see used in real world applications. I doubt I missed gawking at very many machines on construction sites in my lifetime.
