Auto Darkening Helmets. Is there a difference?

I was pissed off today. Neither of my auto darkening hoods would work. One is the Jackson boss the other is a Lincoln. Turns out both had battery leakage issues. I cleaned both with battery corrosion compound and a tips. Both were very hard to reach the way there designed. Both work now, but I was wondering, would lithium batteries cause the same issue if I swap to lithium?

All batteries will probably have same issues, it is dissimilar metals against each other with moisture and oxygen present and voltage flowing through connection.... Answer is clean connections and add anti corrosion compounds (silicone based dielectric grease) which you have done...

I was at my friends place today. Ten was a gross underestimate. Probably twenty helmets lying around. Many Lincolns but the cheaper versions, not the Viking. They seem to find the cheaper ones quite satisfactory.

I looked at a review and thought that I might have found a good helmet in the Lincoln Viking 3350. A little shocked at the price tag, but then of course that dream had to be blown up. My local Praxair dealer said he took them off the shelf after issues, which Lincoln refused to stand behind.

I've been really happy with my Jackson set up. The large viewing area is nice and i have not heard of any problems with the lens.

With all my projects, I am grimicing at the prospect of spending five hundred bucks on a helmet. But I think it does have much to do with ones eyesight. Like some people wear $15 glass and some 15 hundred! Not for style or name but for optical reasons.

I want to hear the rest of the story also. I too am using a helmet from Lowes and don't know enough about them to know if it is a bad-good-better model.

For what it is worth, my older brother stopped by yesterday while I was making art out in the Tinkerage and he tried my Jackson W70 Truesight II helmet and instantly wanted one. My brother has been welding longer than I have.
