B3350 HP

Seems to me that it produces precisely what is claimed. 33 Gross HP is 33 gross HP, which is what is stated in the sales brochure. 27.0 PTO HP is 27.0 PTO HP, which is what is stated in the sales brochure.

I fail to see how anyone can interpret this to mean that the engine does not produce the HP, gross or PTO, that Kubota claims that it does.

It happens when viewers assume that Gross HP is what the engine is applying to the driveline. That's not the case. Net HP is. So the unknowing thinks they are getting a 33HP engine to do their tractor work. That's simply misleading. Intentionally misleading. 10% misleading. We as customers have proven to manufacturers that we will accept 10% deception. "That's how we want it. So that's how we get it". (Cool Hand Luke movie line) :D

Kubota advertises gross engine HP and PTO HP. Kubota does not advertise net engine HP.

One's failure to understand terminology or whatever is not deception but I do not object if you choose to believe that it is.

I accept it as common practice by all manufacturers. They do it because of our acceptance. :)

but this is a "Kubota" forum....and the question was directed towards a "Kubota" product.... lets focus on...."Kubota"...for now ?

I thought we were discussing the accuracy of advertised HP and the differences in Gross, Net and PTO. My bad. Sorry.

Never know. My challenger(car) is rated at 485hp, but pretty widely known to actually be 500hp. Car companies do this all the time. Wouldnt shock me that other industries are the same. Dynos are dynos could test it every day and get different numbers, Plus you have at the crank vs at the wheel etc. So no I wouldn't believe a manufacture

I think folks get misconstrued with HP ratings and actual usability results.

For example I had a 27 HP Kohler spark plug engine on one of my garden tractors (riding lawnmower). I still to this day get asked why I didn't get something with equal or more power.

Folks have a hard time understanding power from a diesel is totally different. They are torque monsters being that it's a compression ignition engine. Hence they don't need to have gobs of HP to get a LOT of work done.

My little BX2200 with the D905 22HP diesel will run circles around even a 30HP gasoline engine for power effort. Power being torque.

With that being said, engine ratings, and PTO ratings will be different, due to losses. So if you are looking for a "true" 30HP machine, you are really looking at 5+HP above that, give or take if it's HST or gear.

That is why I want a L3901 for my next machine. I want something that is in the neighborhood of a GOOD (true) 30-35 PTO HP.

Ideally, I'd like a B/LX series to be a tad bit more powerful, for me to even look at one...

Should not equate torque with HP. Torque defines what can be done. HP defines how fast it can be done. Torque at the drawbar or PTO can be increased or decreased via gear ratios. HP does not change with gear ratios.

Bingo.

HP is HP, gasoline, diesel, steam, or animal.
