Wasn't that the last year convertible GTO's were made?

A friend had a 72...

The thing to remember is big V8 were just about giveaways during the gas lines.

:D my brother was manager of maybe 10 stations back during said crap . . . I fortunately was able to stop by one of his stations after they turned the lights off . . .

Commercial plates helped as we had odd and even days but commercial plates could buy any day but most had 10 gallon limit... my brother had a pickup

One station was at the bottom of a gentle hill so the cars would line up and could coast in.

I don't remember the exact details but tempers got pretty short when people were waiting in line for their 5 gallons or whatever. A customer was giving the attendant an overly hard time so the attendant sprayed him with gas, pulled out a Zippo and told him to leave.
At the time the newspaper lauded his actions, now he'd be thrown in jail and labeled a terrorist.

I missed all that chaos solely because of where I live. I've never been denied gasoline. I've never sat in line to buy gasoline. I've never, one single time in my life, waited to access a gas pump. I love my little piece of paradise. I'm so glad all the other people don't want to live here.

Exactly . . . odd and even, and the lines were horrendous . . . :confused2:

^^^ Where I was at it was not much worse than today on a holiday at a busy intersection off the freeway. Maybe 3 or 4 cars deep. I always knew the gas shortage was a gimmick to get higher prices. The earth was running out of oil in the 70s. Yeah, right.
