Still thermal efficiency is limited by having to condense the steam. Then turning around and evaporating that same water again .
The solar aircraft is still limited by weight , batteries and limited solar energy collection .
There is little to further gain in lightweight high strength structural materials , motors , batteries and PV panels .
The airframe had to avoid inclement weather . Flights had to be at altitudes that required the pilot to be on oxygen .
There are some 24/7 solar powered unmanned airframes in design for spying and communication.
