Found a unit with tracks! Wonder about the advantages/disadvantages?
Advantage: traction, ground compaction
Disadvantage: cost, maintenance, pavement travel?

I run Tracks on my X1100 in the winter. The only disadvantage I see is speed, you'll lose darn-near 50% top end, and they are hardly speed demons to begin. I do get better speed on pavement by going to two wheel drive and simply push the front set of tracks.

Advantage for sure when plowing is traction. I was warned when I picked up my blade, and it's well built, is that the tracks could over power the blade due to traction. But, the blade will rollover before any damage I believe would happen to the arms or the blade itself. The tracks really don't compact the snow, there is so much area that compaction is minimal and it floats over the snow. The traction comes from the bite of the many rubber lugs, the tracks themselves don't sink too far into the snow. It very easy to plow over the track left behind, or push with a shovel.

I'd say tracks add about 6" over overall height. I also had to get longer push bars to get the blade out in front of the tracks.

The first picture doesn't show the pulley I added. The second picture shows the straps to attach my hook higher and pulley was added added at the plow itself for easier lifting.

Test drove a new one yesterday.
Impressed. Practically a truck with small engine and crank windows.
Would like to buy, but can’t swing it.

I feel your pain on that--I bought it anyway, and it it turned out to be a great buy, for me anyway.

I might,,,,still wondering if it’ll pay off. The pto box up front gives me a “poor mans toolcat” (dream machine)
I know you cant mow with it, or blow leaves with it, or bush hog with it, but you can blow snow or broom!

Cant believe they dont offer a leaf blower with hydraulic chute controls-small HP and hydraulic draw.
Found 2018 with 50 hours on it about 300 miles from me with PTO and broom. Waiting for dealer price. But no warranty.

Seen a bunch of hydro stuff for the front end , but never a leaf blower...Could probably build something like out of a pro level backpack blower.

I agree the price is high and people thought I was nuts when I bought mine...I don't use it a bunch in the summer (have a quad for that) but it gets it's use in the winter. My neighbor and I plow the neighborhood (9 driveways) and 1000' of right of way. Not for pay though. Most of the neighbors have 100'+ driveways and are retired so we just do it. An excuse to get out and have a few beers when done.

Once it's paid for, you won't regret the purchase. The hydro dump and power angle make this a nice worker.

I am all about helping people. But clearing a bunch of peoples driveways routinely for free, just doesn't seem right. It's a known fact, that people in general don't even appreciate anything that is too easy or free, so I wouldn't even feel that their appreciation was my reward.

Hmmmm……

Saturday morning at 4 a.m. I started pushing snow off 50 miles of gravel roads. During the next 9 hours I stopped and cleaned four driveways.

One an elderly widow that's not in good health. Wanted to make sure the Ambulance could get in if needed.

One a widow my age that doesn't have a tractor. Wanted to make sure she could get out if she needed to because she's my neighbor.

One a divorcee my age that's also a school teacher. Wanted to make sure she could go to work Monday.

One a bachelor my age that's also a friend. Wanted to make sure he could get out if he chose.

I've done this for many, many years. These people and others send me Christmas Cards. Some remember my birthday. One found my fuel credit card laying on top of the fuel station pump and mailed it to me. One has on more than one occasion came out and gave me a to-go cup of coffee or hot chocolate in the middle of the night.

So if you see something about this that doesn't seem right I pity you. And I pity your neighbors.

Believe me, the neighbors appreciate it and I don't want anything from them..I do get the occasional case of beer--which is nice. We have a pretty good time doing this and I don't want to see a bunch of 70+ year olds out in the freezing cold shoveling snow if they don't have to. More fun than work.

You often miss what I say. I do help people. But to me, I become just their servant if I am doing stuff that should be part of their living arrangements. Then, why not go plow some Elderly farmers field for him? Muck out his barn. I don't get it. If someone suddenly falls ill, or has some temporary setback, different story. My experience, is that there is no shortage of old ladies willing to take advantage of peoples generosity. I will not be some old ladies door mat!

I understand that you are also not using your own resources.

I have known many farmers who move snow for people very reasonably. To me, that just seems like a much better approach.
