X is the most knowledgeable member that I know in regards to pic posting. He taught me everything I know about it if that tells you anything.

I’m totally out to lunch. I have never (or never seen) any type of sizing option for posting pics. I’m not certain I’d even know what to do.

I click on the pic from my albums and BAM it’s done.

I use iPad and iPhone on Tapatalk. I don’t have a laptop or desktop.

You always want to take pictures originally at the highest resolution that your device can do. The reason is if you take them at a lower resolution, and you find a nice prize winning photo, you won't be able to blow it up to a reasonable size for print or display without losing quality.

The only time I'd take lower resolution photos to begin with would be for.... well... in this day and age, I can't think of a valid reason.

It very well could be something to do with the end user's browser, etc as to how they're appearing differently for everyone.

My process as of late has been to upload 2048px (on the long edge) images, because that's that highest resolution that plays well with Facebook, where I post them all first.
I then set them all to the "medium" setting on here so that they load faster for folks, yet aren't the tiny thumbnails that "small" gives you.
If someone wants to view it larger (at the expense of bandwidth), they can click on the image and it will render it full screen.
Right or wrong is open to interpretation. That's just how I do mine. :)

I am usually on a laptop. I use the "insert pic" icon to post a pic. It shows up as a thumbnail size. I double click the pic and am given a choice of sizes to post the final pic. I usually use "full size". I do that because my mentor Xfaxman told me it takes up less bandwidth than when the user clicks on the small thumbnail to enlarge it for viewing.

But Terry, never make the mistake of assuming I am a tech expert.....

Some valid reasons for that in the pro/hobbyist photography world would be to reduce file size (and thereby time to load and process on the PC) and/or to increase burst rate for more frames per second when shooting action. But none of that really applies to most.

Thanks Richard. I’m all for being considerate and taking up less bandwidth but I don’t even seem to have any of those options.

Just because you have EVERYTHING in your shop doesn't mean you get to have EVERYTHING all the time...….
