If you pull the staples out of the seat and separate the cover, plywood, foam, you may be able to dry them and re-staple them later.

Yeah. I'd try that before I bought a new one!!!

Good stuff on the cables too ruffdog. I used to have a cable lube device. Clamped on one end of the cable and then used a spray can of lube to push all the water out and lube at the same time.

Yep, that is the type of luber I used too.

Yep. Back in my younger man days riding motocross and ATV racing I used the heck out of it.

You got VERY lucky turning the engine over with the starter after it was submerged! Not sure how much it turned...was it just a partial revolution, or a couple turns?

It would be wise to remove the glow plugs before turning the engine over again, just to be sure there is no water in the cylinders. If there is water in there...bad news and expensive repairs will be in your future. Why chance it?

So far the only thing not working is the fuel gauge as far as I can tell. I guess I better run a full check on all the lights etc to see if they need attention. Got the fuel gauge ordered from Kubota dealer (wow $48) . Got the seat off and standing up and it is draining a little water out now.
It was a bit hard to crank, I think because the muffler was full of water but it finally sit off and is running fine, still spitting out a bit of water from the muffler but hydraulic work as they should. I still have the old filters in but will swap them out when my replacements come in. Maybe they will catch any small amount of water that didn't drain out or flush out with the diesel flush.

So was the machine cold when it went in? A hot transmission or dif. can suck in water when cooled rapidly.

I checked all the lights, they didn't get any water in them so all still good. Looks like all the idiot lights are working as of now. Sure glad it didn't take a salt water bath. Buddy sunk his boat in salt water and constantly had gremlins in the wiring from then on till he sold it (because of the gremlins).

So total $$ so far is the 3 gallons of hydraulic fluid (already had that and it has been 2 years since I changed it so no big deal there, new fuel gauge ($48) and then full fiter kit (about $90 IIRC from last time I bought one). So less than $200 mistake by not letting my daughter know to pull the park brake. Well if I have to buy a new seat $400 total.
I guess I could just consider the oil changes as early spring maintenance an say that so far it is just $48 for the fuel gauge.

I would have thought the seat, the easiest fix. Although the one on my Mule wouldn't take staples from a hand stapler and I didn't have an air operated one. The material was too thick when going through several folded layers to have any length left to get into the plywood.

When I first started reading this thread I thought that she had gone through the ice while riding back across the lake; a not uncommon occurrence up this way. I guess that you don't have that problem though.
