Mini excavator/skid steer vs backhoe.

I’ve seen those but I’ve never seen a big one. My M59 is close to the minimum I can get by with.

Yep. There are a lot of TLBs still used here too.

A backhoe makes far better sense for municipal use. The backhoe could be on the job before the excavator gets loaded up. I guess you could leave it loaded up but now you need a dedicated truck and trailer that’s more money. And you have to get out of the cab in bad weather to chain it. If you’re going to hook it behind a tractor that still only goes 25 mph it makes even less sense.
