Are there any refrigerator companies that make a reliable fridge anymore ??

LG sure hit the jackpot when it dropped the Lucky-Goldstar name that was found at discounters everywhere and went world wide with Initials Only LG

Was at a dinner party years ago and one of the guests said they were going topline all the way... all LG. She was not happy when I said it is amazing how much better Lucky-Goldstar is doing since changing names... I don't think she believed me as she was certain LG was an exclusive Euro brand...

They do seem to making a lot of solar panels these days... at least the ones going in around here... same size as my 12 year old panels with twice the output...

The repair men my sister in law calls have been idiots...

The Bosch Dishwasher was not draining... the factory service said it was the pump... the replacement pump with service is more than buying a new one... she paid the $110 service call.

Went on line and found a $19 part caused standing water... put in the part and 4 years with no problems...

Same with the their front loaders... factory service said it needed a new $400 board replacement... my brother said not in a million years... would put it on the highway with a Lemon Sign...

He went online and found instructions on how to reset the board to factory default... it involved pushing a certain sequence of key strokes and holding.... did that and three trouble free years since...

When you think about it the internet is a fantastic resource for those so motivated...

MB Dealer wanted $143.50 to replace E350 engine air filter.
E-Bay MANN filter cost was $31.95, with free shipping.
U-Tube, and 15 minutes to install.
(An air filter for a MB E350 is not quite as straightforward as one might think).

The 2 local appliance shops told me stay away from GE,LG and Samsung refrigerators as they are to hard to get parts for.Don't know if that is the real truth or not..

That is true for LG. We really like our LG refigerator, but the ice maker went out. No LG service techs in the area, have to go to corporate to get an independent authorized to work on it. Finally got the authorization, but then had to get the part. Something like 6 weeks to get someone to replace the water control solenoid under warranty. But, we still like our LG and would get another one.

Also on F250 diesel to replace the waste gate solenoid. YouTube for directions and part number list. Amazon $40 part and 20 minutes of my labor. VS. Dealer $60 part and 1 hour @ $100/ hour plus the time driving there and back.

I miss the days where I could go to the factory depot and get what I needed...

At one time everyone had major West Coast presence in the SF Bay Area... it often extended to Canada with LA for the South West for AZ and New Mexico...

Someone had broken into my remodel and stole the heat exchanger/burners and gas valve for a new central furnace I installed...

I went to the Williams Monterey Factory explained what happened and the manager said come with me... went to the shop floor and gathered the parts and said he would have to charge me $150... I could not have been happier.

The LG story for success is Korea deemed it essential and of great strategic importance... so Korea effectively blocked the importation of anything competing with LG... it gave the company a steady market...

We have a Daiken Heat Pump that needed a new coil under warranty... it was **** to get authorization and out of service several months because the new coil had to come by boat from Asia... this was not old as it still had full warranty enforce...

I have thought with all this offshoring just what would happen if the flow of goods ceased??? Not quite so worried about North America but more so when oceans are involved for durable goods...

Sounds like your evap fan is not working

Fan was running murph.Did a few trouble shooting things to the fridge but nothing seemed to help.

We have a big Samsung fridge side by side, 16 years and hasn't missed a beat, I have heard LG are about the same.

I'll probably give our local man a opportunity with a Crosley when our GE quits. He sold us a Speed Queen washer and dryer that have been flawless for 5-6 years. He hates selling appliances he has to work on.
