Ideas to protect the hydraulic filter?

/ Ideas to protect the hydraulic filter? #21
I received the Hydraulic filter and FEL line shield within 7 business days of ordering. It came from Canada and price is $280 including shipping and tax.

Took about 2 hrs to fit pieces on tractor, mark the two drill holes, drill holes and mount shield.

The drawing shows the pieces as they should be installed. The bolts on part 4 will be the holes you will mark and drill.

As you are back to TBN & I haven't gotten around to E-mailing... Here is the couple minutes of grinding I did on my QD guard. The inside QD was barely touching when I installed it. Given the heft of that bracket compared to the rest of the guard you may want to trim that bracket down a 1/4" or so in future revisions. Will account for variations or slop that seems to exist.

What I did. May be over kill but I use this M5640 in the woods. Comes off by removing the four bolts into unused threaded holes in bottom of transmission

This is an old post, I realize…. but I haven’t been on-line for awhile…and since I got rid of the Ford and bought a Kubota M4700DT … I hadn’t thought to come back to tractorbynet…until I googled ”kubota hyd filter guard” …and this thread popped-up. (I couldn’t even remember my username/password but my I-pad did thankfully.)
Anyway…Gordon, if you should revisit this thread and see this post, I’d like to appreciate your idea and complement you. I think I’ll do something similar but perhaps a little more “open” design, not quite so “enclosing”.
My 400-hr 1996 M4700 looks almost identical underneath (I suspect your M5640 is a derivation model) and when I got it home on the first day I noticed the hyd filters were crushed/beaten-up pretty good by the previous owner who had apparently used the tractor in roughage. They were WIX filters so at least they had been changed from the original gray K-filters and weren’t the ones delivered from the factory, indicating the 50-hr maintenance had at least been performed.
Gordon, thanks for the idea.

Gordon, thanks for the idea.
Your welcome. The thing I like best about TBN is seeing how others do things and the exchange of ideas. Thanks for the note.

This guard sounds like a simple solution for your tractor.

Or they could be just more bent (and expensive) sheet metal to remove when things go bad.

Can you move the filter? If not your option is really only to armor it. A $300 bolt together kit wouldnt be my first option.

Paul and Kathy have 5 great upgrades for the Kubota L series. Simple applications compared to others.

I decided to upgrade tractors and bought a MX5400 which has more protection for the axles, hydraulic lines and filters. I didn't buy it for just that but for the ability to go out in the woods without too much worry of damaging parts of the tractor.

I bent my hydraulic filter for the second time. Completely exposed on the "passenger" side of the tractor.

Anyone have any ideas how to protect it from being damaged?

I was thinking about welding a schedule 40 pipe so that the filter sits within the pipe but I could still get an oil filter socket on it.
We run Zooks Welding filter guards on the L and MX units, top notch design and very heavy duty
