Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 5:15 AM. A mix of clouds and sun during the morning will give way to cloudy skies this afternoon. High 64F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like yer off to a good start, David. If you decide to weld on that galvanized metal, don't breathe the vapors. It'll make you sick. The zinc will also wet the grain boundaries in the weld, leading to cracking. Grind off the plating before you start, then maybe use some of Eric's cold galvanizing goop to restore corrosion resistance.:2cents:

Welcome desertdog71.:welcome: Seems like the open air markets where both live and butchered animals are sold have perfect conditions for virus to jump from animals to people. China still has a ways to go when it comes to health and sanitation. Are you a doctor or other kind of health specialist?

What did Mark Twain say Kyle? "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.":confused2:

Sounds like yer workin' yer butt off, Wng. And usin' that tree for a foot bridge makes good sense, but only if you don't fall off. Brings back memories of big sycamore and beech trees that fell across the creek in a woods behind the house I grew up in. Wet feet and slippery bark isn't a good combo.

Keeping an eye on the two truck shipments this morning, I see the generator stuck in Salt Lake City due to snow, and the solar rails somewhere between Blythe and Santa Fe Springs. The rails are supposed to be delivered today, but with an eleven hour trip still to go, that seems unlikely. Especially since the route involves LA traffic.

Rain arrived yesterday morning before I could get out and make the elevation measurements, so that's on the agenda for today.

I did get a chance to size up the generator pad, and it looks like I'll take a page out of Ted's book and pour a small one to start, but leave rebar sticking out the sides so I can enlarge it and build a shed later. Not sure how to do the four anchors for the genset, though. It would be nice to put the anchors in the concrete when it's poured, but I'm not sure how I'd position the genset accurately enough to avoid bending something. And I'm not sure I could locate holes and anchors accurately enough to line up with the holes in the genset. Things get complicated when the weight goes over half a ton, right David?

Surprisingly, I heard back from AT&T about the phone charges during the time I lost service after the Camp Fire. It turns out they were issuing small credits each month, even as recently as last November. But the way they did it was haphazard and difficult to track, and at the end of hours worth of digging through bank statements and telephone bills, I gave up. Suffice it to say that if there were any other choice than AT&T for phone service, I'd take it, and there's no way I'd ever rely on them for cell service. If their billing system is so Byzantine, the rest of the company is probably a wreck, too, and now I'm even thinking I should dump their stock.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Ron, good luck with the doctor.

39 and overcast, heading to low 40s with clouds, again. Gray and cool, with near normal temps. Winter blues weather for sure.
Got my leg compression wrapped by a therapist yesterday, it shrank so much I had to pull the wrap off, it was sliding down my leg. I go back Friday, I’ll see how that goes. I’m a plus one on both legs, not bad, but I’d rather be down to normal.

Drew, you’re having too much fun with your greenhouse.

Good day all, prayers.

Good morning. It was 44° here this morning and forecast for 60° this afternoon. The sun popped out earlier but it's now overcast and very windy.

I'm thinking, with our winds, today will be a work in the shop day.

LS ... your table tops look great. How will you finish them? Or have you already applied a clear finish?

Drew ... good luck with your seedlings and careful "trail riding" with your big Massey.

David ... as RNG notes ... carefully welding around the galvanizing. There's lots of "cold galvanizing" products.

RNG ... wedge type concrete anchors, like these, work well in applications like yours.

Kwik Bolt Wedge Anchors - Hilti USA

Kyle ... I prefer my sushi ... chicken fried!

Randy .. glad your leg swelling is getting resolved.

Hope everyone enjoys your "hump day" today.

Prayers to all.

30°F and light snow this morning, going up to 35° today. Snow is supposed to continue through most of the day, giving us a forecast 1-2". Back up near 60° on Sunday and Monday.

Started looking for something online last night, got distracted, and fell down the YouTube rabbit hole. Ended up watching a whole bunch of videos of fight scenes from various Japanese samurai movies. Some are quite good, most seem just OK, and some are downright awful. (None of this had anything to do with what I was initially looking for.)

Welcome to the GM thread, desertdog71. Closest I've ever gotten to Wuhan is the Wuhan branded China-type cymbal on my acoustic drum set.

I had AT&T cell service in the past, RNG. You're right, you don't want it.

Good morning to all! Low of 25, going for a high of 52, maybe a passing sprinkle this afternoon.

Had an incident this morning with Max, the now 15 month old standard schnauzer. It was right at feeding time. He had something in his beard, and the wifey asked me to wipe it off with a napkin. Well, when I did, he gave me a deep growl. No nip, but just a growl. He is trying to show dominance, I think. I basically took him down to show my dominance. Not sure if that was the right thing to do..... He has not been neutered yet, but that will now be soon! I hope this is just an exception.... he is not aggressive in the least towards strangers or anything else.

PJ, does your wife have any suggestions on the Max situation?

To make the whole situation worse, when I grabbed him, I bumped into the temporary folding table we are using in the kitchen while I am making the table. There were 2 full coffee cups, and the wifeys medication container sitting on it. The coffee went flying, spilling over into her pill container ruining those, all over the placemats, and down onto the seat cushions. A real mess!

So, not starting off the day real well. I have some errands this morning, then back to complete the table.

The table is progressing nicely. I got the tops finished yesterday, I use mineral oil and bees wax for a hand rubbed finish. My shoulder and arm is sore! I finished making the table apron and drawer, and got them all painted. All that is left is mounting the apron to the top, installing the drawer guide, and mounting the legs. Barring any more escapades, it should be done today.

Here are a few pics of the table progress.

Everyone have a great day!

Wuhan is a strange place. Huge city, supposedly a lot of people living there but the times I have been there it seemed pretty sparsely occupied. So I don't know where the 11M people are.

Once Max is neutered, a lot of his behaviors will change. Many dogs don't like having someone touch their mouths. Wifey usually fixes that by touching it all the time, basically desensitizing them from it and forcing them to get used to it. Lift their lips, check their teeth and gums, etc. When they no longer react to it, reward them. We can reach into any one of our BCs mouths and pull anything out, because she got them used to us handling their mouths from an early age, and they know we're not taking their food and starving them.

Or, maybe he was just upset because he was saving that for later. :licking:
