8 ten bar and chains

I've been buying Oregon replacement chains for my ms271, price is about the same, will give these guys a try.
I would like to pick up a 24 inch bar for my saw and am thinking about giving these guys a try. Looks like i can get a bar and chain from 8 ten for the same or a little less then what my local dealer wants for the husky bar alone.

Those ads would be wrong.
I'm no Stihl fan-boy (in fact, at present I do not own any Stihl equipment), but they are known for making very good chains.
Lots of reviews on 8ten chains complaining about poor durability and poor quality control overall.

I have always run Oregon chains on my saws but decided to try some chains made by Laser in the USA , slightly less $ than Oregon.
I got 2 - 20" chains for my 2166 Jonsered for $30 delivered.
Seem to cut just fine.

I like stihl equipment but not there bars. My last stihl bar didn't even last 2 chains before the grove was all over sized. I do clean and dress them.
I'm now on chain 2 with a forester platinum bar. There's not where near the same wear.

Wearing out a bar in just a couple of chains is usually a sign of a lubrication problem, or occasionally a problem with how the chain was sharpened. Sometimes it's a reflection of the conditions in which you are cutting (pulling in abrasives as you cut).
Stihl bars have a good reputation for a reason. While it's possible you just got a bad one, I'd be looking for other causes.
That is possible but not much else has changed but the bar. Same saw, same two hands sharpening it and I still don't cut dirty wood. Forester platinum is actually a bit harder steel, there also comparable to the price of a stihl if I remember right.

I've been cutting about 8 or 9 cords a year, for the past 18 years, to feed my Bryan furnace every Winter. I haven't tried any 8ten chains, but I've tried Stihl, Oregon, Forester, and probably a couple of other brand chains and bars, over the years. I've had much better results with the Stihl chains and bars. I have a Stihl 044 and a MS271, and the bars on both are still good after 2 years of cutting. I clean the saws and bars after each use, and sharpen the chains, and get dozens of hours cutting off of each chain before I have to replace it. We have a local ACE Hardware that sells Stihl chains for little more than prices on Amazon or EBAY.
The question I would have is....where are 8ten chains made? I looked on the Internet, and found nothing....I suspect they are a China Import.
