What do I know. But most tractors need a lift pump whether the fuel tank is above the engine or not. IF for no other reason, for purposes of bleeding air out of the system.

michiganiron please see post #23. tractor never had a lift pump.
well, now you know WHY the better diesels have a lift pump!.. I DID post a link to a lift pump as used on the LK3054 tractor, perhaps it's not the original engine in yours, or Kioti decided to eliminate it to save a buck!. for Kioti..

Not sure where this is all going....all of the KIOTI (Daedong) diesels used a lift pump, up to the Tier IV Engines. The KIOTI Tier IV engines use a Low Pressure / High Pressure dual chamber fuel pump.

His does not have the lift pump. The spot where the pump mounts is capped and painted. It looks like it came that way from the factory. This is very strange to say the least.

I posted a marked picture showing where is should be but will post again here.

hi all. I have some good news and bad news. I think I found the problem. my tractor is older like 92 back then "they had no lift pump see post 23" it was gravity feed to the injector pump. we all know kioti had some problems with the injection pumps. I think this is why the newer models had the lift pump. I think the injector pump just got old and tired like me and could not pull the prime it needed with a gravity feed. today I picked up a lift pump and installed it, runs like a champ now not sure how long this will last I will have to get a new or rebuilt i.p. I have 1 source that might be able to rebuild it they have not called back yet. btw we run a 922 cat "older than dirt" 580 e case backhoe bd2g dozer, and never had a problem with the injector pumps. I did not have access to a pressure tester for i.p. so had to do it old school way. I thank all out there who gave there support, input, and advise it is much appreciated! I hope this thread will help someone else, and save them some time troubleshooting.

It is the original engine. Not sure why it is missing the lift pump. I am also surprised it has run all these years on gravity. So maybe Daedong is the "better diesel" because it will still run without an extra pump. :confused3:

Good Job! Glad you got her going again. I would not worry about the injector pump. It probably will last for a long while yet.

Glad your up and running!

Awesome you got it going! A good 12 volt pump should last you a while. When it does, I suspect you could replace it for less than $1K and be up and running again. ;)
