Hey guys, I changed the hydraulic oil and filter on my 1929 hydro and now it has air in it. Bucket jerks up and down, same on 3 point. Tranny is hard to get moving and makes a funny vibrating noise when I take off forward. Any help is appreciated, never had this happen before. There is no oil leaks but seems like it's sucking air between the pump and filter housing. I put a new O ring in the tube at the filter housing, didn't help.

Was the new filter matched up with the old one gasket size , Old gasket removed from housing , Did you cross thread the new filter on , Is the hydraulic oil full

If you have no air leaks on the suction side you should be able to cycle the bucket up and down a few times to get the air out. If that won't do it you may have air getting into the system.

Everything checked out good. I'm thinking it is sucking air somewhere between the filter and pump. Checked and tightened the T hose. Funny thing is it was fine until I changed the oil and filter.

The gasket from the old filter stuck to the filter head?

No, checked that out. Also put new O ring in filter housing for suction pipe.

How do you know it's sucking air? What kind of hydraulic oil did you use? Strange it worked till you changed it.

It's strange but I pulled the T hose last night and noticed it was a little soft on the filter pipe side. Gonna order another one and see if it takes care of the problem. And to answer your question, you can actually see the air bubbles in the oil after you shut it off. I use the same oil, 134D.

Just wondering if you found the source of air?
