Interesting statement. When you say "made", what exactly are you saying? Full rolling chassis?
Another interesting point out of your video was the transmission and front axle comes from South Carolina. Do you know who just happens to have a transaxle manufacturing company in South Carolina? Hmm wonder who that could be. Would you be surprised that it opened in 2001?
Wonder if the connection is still there and that it is still a full Yanmar tractor. Be interesting to know the facility name in South Carolina.
Yes, “Transaxles of America” is a joint venture between Deere and Yanmar.
And no, I am not surprised that it came along in 2001.
This all makes perfect sense. I’m sure there was joint intellectual property, and when Deere wanted to begin designing their own machines, it made sense for the transaxles to remain in this joint venture.
Anyway, the transaxles are made in the USA.
Do the parts come from somewhere else? I don’t know. However, lots of Americans are employed building these transaxles, even before they get to Augusta, where more Americans are employed assembling the final product.
Maybe someday we can tour the transaxle factory. Who knows???
I looked at the transaxle housing on the small Yanmar’s at the NFMS. It looks dramatically different. I do not believe the Yanmar tractors are sharing the same housing. Of course, some the ‘insides’ could be the same, but the housing is definitely different.
