Ok, do you dig 2 holes like that when NOT stepping on the differential?

Don't know never paid much attention.... If it seems that when I don't have enough forward motive traction, I use rear differential locker and traction improves..

I remember having to slowly let the one wheel turn(very slow) =and press the locking lever until I felt it lock giving the other wheel power. If you dont you could shear the pin right off.

The diff lock depends on chance as to how the gears are aligned when you try to engage it.

The pedal may go right down, because the gears were lined up. And, as others said you may have to move a little while you apply light pressure, to align them. You will feel the pedal drop in, when it does.

Like the float controls on the hydraulics, you may need to fiddle with it a while to get used to how it works.

Well, I'm no differential lock expert, don't wanna speak outta turn. But I do use it quite a bit on my property though, coz of the terrain...mostly on my garden tractor but also occasionally on the massey furgie as well. Mines can't dig in like that with both rear wheels spinning like Dale says, unless I got the lock depressed. Dale, I'd say I'd be curious if yours is always engaged, but you'd probably notice it with difficult turning. So, I dunno, whatever.

I will say it again.... Mine functions just like description in manual and as I have described it several times....

If I have time tomorrow I may chain tractor to a tree and experiment....

If I know I need to engage the diff lock before pushing into a pile i will turn the steering left and right while driving slowly. This lines up the pin to it's slot.

If I need to engage when stuck, I do as others have mentioned. I put pressure on the lever then slowly depress the forward or reverse pedal to allow the hole to line up with the pin. It then slides in gently without any clunking or other 'bad' sounds.

Hope these was not aimed at me,because you are the one who has come back at me every time I post with questioning my experience as I relate it and it seems you can not accept it because you are experiencing a situation different than me.........

Exactly what, exactly NOT like how's it with yours?

"Mine seems to engage whenever I press it... And releases when I'm off the lever..."

Ok, literally everybody else on this thread says theirs don't work like that...unless the gears or pin or whatever aligns by pure luck. I dunno, maybe you're lucky every time with it, good for you. Alls I was saying was the way yours is working (per your account) sounds a bit unusual, maybe there's something going on with it. Didn't realize you would take that as a personal attack and get all defensive, SOOOOOOOORRRRYYYYY! :dance1:
