Can't really use a pickup as they are difficult to secure cargo and theft is a real problem...

It's all in how you set it up. I have a ladder rack made of square tubing, giving me tie points on 3 sides of the bed. I don't worry about theft, generally I'm hauling from point A to Point B so they'd have to grab it while I'm doing 45. You can also put a truck cap on to keep the honest people out.

I've had ongoing theft problems with my panel van to the point tools inside are in a locked and bolted job box and padlocked chains for air compressor and generator.

Even with all this I have had the front windows popped at the Box Stores... but the SF Bay Area is ground zero for smash and grab

Sounds like a good plan....but, 4-1/2" battery powered angle grinders are relatively cheap these days.

Does your panel van have advertizing on the outside, ie your company name etc? Just wondering how they know what could be inside. Jon

I don't think addicts think far enough to figure out what could be inside.

I spent the last 3 years of my career traveling to the east bay area, did not spend a lot of time in SF but did travel through it 60-70 times to and from SFO.

I wish I had been able to travel there back in the heyday of SF, I think it would have been pleasant back then.

These days, its not so much.......

It's pretty sad when you have to install a locking Job Box in your locked van. Perhaps the signs on the van should say "Caution, Hazardous Waste."
