Here in Mass, gas is 2.20 ish for regular. .. Here are my thoughts on gas/oil... Years ago the scare tactic that was used isthat the supply was low and gas prices ran up to 4.00+ PG. ..nowadays shale production has made the US oil independent, cars now routinely get 25+MPG and a good number get better. Now add in the plug in cars that use no fuel oil. .. demand is down... supply is high. OPEC can no longer price rig the market. .. Prices SHOULD fall. And a lot. I may be off, but I think I remember reading that it costs us here in the US about 30.00 per barrel to produce product via shale ...OPEC in Saudi / and other Middle East count
I oduce at about 18.00 per barrel..I suspect the Russians and OPECwill try to push prices so low..Fracking / Shale will become non profitable. And the state of Massachusetts just took the opportunity to jack the gas tax again....figuring that the consumer would not notice the increase as pump prices fall. ... This state will piss that revenue away on anything but road repair issues. ...They will redirect it to the P.O.S MBTA trains and busses.. that drivers do not use.. Democrat BS and poor planning at its panicle.

Looks like they are planning an $18 billion spending bill to use up your increased fuel tax.

House lawmakers rejected a proposed amendment from Rep. David LeBoeuf, D-Worcester, to use a penny of the diesel tax to cover the cost to make free all bus fares via regional transit authorities.

That part is downright scary. There is a term for that, but would be considered political on this forum.

Free bus fares paid for by automobile drivers.
What a play on language.

Mass is a chit hole..mis managed, corrupt, incompetent, chit hole. ... Charge the drivers so bus riders ride free.... typical. From Mass idiots. .. They are also hitting Uber and Lyft riders another "fee" tax for all rides.. They also make them drop off and pick up passengers at the airport,in a different..and far more inconvenient place than the filthy taxis. ..

I have no sympathy for Uber/Lyft drivers running a taxi service without a cab license. "Ride sharing" my hiney.

But from what I have seen Uber does it better than taxi services. Every time I have used Uber when traveling the car was clean, service was fast, driver was nice, and spoke where a country boy from Mississippi could understand him or her.

It痴 free market capital. People willing to work and choosing how or when to do it. Cabs have been a monopoly for far too long, unchallenged and unchecked. Uber / Lyft is a huge benefit to the consumer.
