Sometimes stringy wood makes good lumber to work with like it sure is nice to nail a board that wont split. Wonder what your cord count is now................

I am not sure what I am up to now, I will likely stop for the season in a week or two and then count. I did some skyhooks today of noodled rounds that I could not lift. Grass is green, calves are on the ground, gotta stop the firewood.

I used the new Timberline saw sharpener for two weekends now, with 12 times sofar and counting, have to say it works good. I think it sharpens better and more consistent then anything out there, better then the Granberg round stone grinder, better then the topical Oregon flat stone grinder. Couple reason why, the Granberg works good but that small stone loose diameter as it goes around the chain, especially long chains and heats the teeth. Flat stone grinder if looking at the tooth close it creates a flat grind on the tooth, oh it's sharp but flat sharp on chainsaw tooth IMO is not as good as a slightly round sharp grind and again flat stone grind still creates heat.

The Timberline solves all those issues that I think are issues, starting with a cool grind, a slightly round grind, a more constant consistent precise grind from a razor sharp carbide cutter. BUT I do have a couple issues though, 1> No motor on it hand powered only, guess tiny slow turning motors cant be made... 2> Then I dont think theres quite enough travel room to pull carbide cutter out to move chain, pull to much and it comes out then be sure not to drop, pull out not enough and when turning chain the tooth bangs into cutter... 3> Once the saw chain is down a little those tooth stop dogs cant be flipped over to do other side without first unscrewing the adjustment knob all way back, I'd rather just pull cutter out, flip stop, insert cutter and turn knob in or back slightly if needed.

What I find works good is when trying out on used chain, start with longest tooth first, bring in easy so just to get the cutter shape, then snug up good for next go-round, I had to go around 4 times to get all teeth same length, I had one tooth that got ding so didn't go back to that one but getting close now after several sharpening's. Then do same thing on other side, then the next time chain needs touch up set the sharpener so it just brushes the teeth and it comes out razor, The shapener comes with how to set on bar by finding balancing point, very easy set up.

I have used one, and it did work well. I just thought it was kinda slooooooow and some complain that the cutters don't last long enough.

The cutters last pretty good unless you break them which is easy to do. Slow is my biggest gripe. It does work good though.

So do you think it is that much better than a file with a guide?

And it looks to about $140 shipped from Amazon, and you have two?

That's what I'm wondering, funny how everything works good the first few times and those cutters are not cheap, $25.00-ish. Files dont last all that long but are a lot cheaper.

NO NO and No a file is bout the best thing going, but I HATE filing so I thought I'd give this a try. I bought mine off the Timberline home site, paid a bit more but I wanted different size cutters from a one stop shop. It took 4 weeks to get mine, after two weeks I emailed them because I heard nothing and my email was not really political correct if you know what I mean, it should've been worded better like a lot of my comments here. They/he/her politely emailed back said sorry the sharpener is back-ordered, thanks for your patience, or something to that effect. So I thought to my self least they replied and I understood back-ordered, just wish they posted that before I bought, so I decided I wait a month before I contact them again but didn't didn't have to, two weeks later it showed up, they sent me two for the price of one and a Snickers candy bar, I almost think there was a hidden message in there but not sure.................

I also notice today that when using the Timberline sharpener, keep eye on these little screws that they stay tight. When they get loose those inserts will wooble causing the cutter to jim jam and could possibly break cutter which intern could cause the sharpener to turn into a flying sharpener...........

HOW do you file the rakers on that :censored: safety chain? I try to avoid them, the only way I"ve found that works was with a new disc on my angle grinder.
