Any snowmobile owners who own tractors?

Arly, I am considering a Polaris General for my move to Wisconsin and I thought about perhaps installing tracks for winter use. I realize they can't be used on the snowmobile trails but would use them for utility work. Perhaps you could comment on your experience with respect to maintenance, ease of steering, problems, etc.

Shouldn't that be in a different and specific thread about that? Steering of pods while on snow isn't all that hard in a side by side. Of course, that's while moving. I'd recommend any pods made by Soucy. The ones on our 6x6 say Polaris on them but they were made by Soucy. There is really just two manufacturers out there and the other one is Camos and we've had very poor luck with there products. Tcowner, if you start a specific thread about this, I'll respond to it.

In December 2018 I bought my first snowmobile, wanting to go off-trail on my property (we get 240" of snow annually), carry a passenger, and tow a sled with kids, all while not smelling like 2-stroke oil. Ended up buying a Ski-Doo Expedition Sport 900 ACE, and it does all those thing very well. 90hp is more than adequate, I get an average of 18mpg on trail rides, and minimal noise and smell. I can and do ride it in very deep powder, solo, with no issues, and can ride with a passenger off-trail in most conditions (not the softest, deepest fresh powder). To me this is a do-almost-everything sled. The 900 ACE is the most expensive option, you can also get it with the 60hp 600 ACE or the new 2-stroke, 2-cylinder 600 EFI, rated at 85hp. I've only test driven two strokes, never owned one, but really prefer the operating characteristics of the 4-stroke.
The good news: bought a 2018 Enduro 900 Ace in December! Absolutely like new, with relatively low miles and current maintenance.

The bad news: I killed winter! The trails were only open a few days (when I wasn't there) before periods of warm temps and even rain killed the conditions. Skiing was OK because of the base of man-made snow, but the local snowmobile trails don't have that option. We've ridden this only a few miles on the trails on our property, only about 0.6 mile.

The lakes region here did have a couple of good weeks in February and then I trailered up to the twin mountain area to get a 100 miles in one day in late February as well. Even the groomed trails up there got beaten pretty bad by the end of the day.
