I received my grinder this morning. The one I posted above. I ordered it Friday night and I received early Monday morning. Amazon shipping is fast.

I hope you get the longevity out of your Hitachi I have.

Adjustments.jpgModel PDM115 I bought in 1981. I just checked and parts are still available through multiple online stores.

1st time for photos. Am I late to the party or is this something new. The spanner nut on my 6" is like a keyless chuck. Simple to loosen by hand. Clicks to lock and unlock. If the wrench is needed it is stored in the handle. Cheap 13 amp Menards special.

I never tighten the lock down nut on blades or are they called stones? Whatever you call them very much. That way you can lock the motor and get it apart, without any tools.

Yep, That's what I've always done in the past. This lock nut makes it nice for loosening without getting bloody knuckles. Never seen one prior.

That nut is pretty cool. My Walter has a knurled toolless nut but I don’t particularly like it. It takes too much effort to remove and reinstall. Like installing a nylock with your fingers.

Metabo had one of those stupid keyless nuts to .:thumbdown:First thing we do when we get a new grinder in the shop is throw them out and get a regular nut out of the grinder bone yard . That usually right after we throw out the blade guard . Never use a tool to switch wheels . If we get a new guy in the shop and he ain't strong enough to get the wheel off tell him it's time to start going to the gym.:D:drink:

Yeah, It's not a question of strength. I think I have that covered. It's ease of use. The grinder did come with a regular nut as well and my other 4 are regular. I just like the slight click on and slight click off. Might not last but i'll give it a go..

To reiterate what the nut needs to do, just keep the tool on and not vibrate. No more. It does not need to be a hand strength test to get it off/on. No tools required.

I see nothing wrong with trying HF flap wheels like California posted. At those low prices you have nothing to lose.

Personally I would stay away from other than name brand cut off wheels and traditional hard wheels though. To me it is just not worth taking the risk. JMHO

I wasted a bit of money on some cheapie discs I bought from Canadian Tire. For the work accomplished, they cost more than double the cost of decent ones.
