cat 1 to cat 2

The first thing I’d try is flipping the pins around if that is possible, I’ve had a couple of cutters I had to run that way over the years.

I appreciate your help, but their is inner bracing that interferes with them turned inwards. Pats ?

You can see that double braces on the inside, preventing the hitch from engaging the pins

Hi again, I got a new Mihindra Cat 1 tractor - 2655 55hp. I just got a RK kutter BH with Cat 2 set up on the hitch. I also bought a Harbor freight Cat 1 quick hitch thinking this bush hog was going to be cat 1 also.

So, what is the easiest way to take my cat 1 tractor and hook it up to a cat 2 BH ? preferably with the quick hitch

Probably will need 3 bushings from TSC to convert from Cat 1 to 2. I've 3 bushings on my MacKissic shredder/chipper that convert it from Cat 0 to 1. Not sure how the bushings will work on the quick hitch though.

You can build a new custom or have it built "A" frame for that mower. It could be reinforced on the outside rather than the inside. You could even take the "A" frame on it now and cut the inside braces off and replace with outside bracing. Just measure carefully and but sure it would work before you do the work.

I’d look at moving the uprights back to the second set of holes , then redrill the two braces going from the top to the rear of the cutter. That would allow the lower pins to be flipped inward, then depending on what you’re using for the top link connection ( adjustable hook or did you buy the adapter) adapt accordingly.

I’d do what I had to in order to keep the quick hitch before a pats system.

i will look at doing this in the morning

I want to keep the tractor an original cat 1 hitch.....and would like to leave the harbo freight quick hitch on too. And modify the KK bush hog to fit. Or i can take the HF QH off, and add the Pats and use my hydraulic Top link to attach to the top mower pin

Sound ok ?

IMHO the RK cutter with 3 pt centerlink attaching hinged bracket hanging down in photo below will not allow correct utilization of a quick hitch that has centerlink cutter attaching connection. QH utilization will stop or limit rear tail wheel from raising when a hump or berm is crossed by tail whee because hinge linkage on cutter can't hinge with HF QH attached. I think Pat's QH is a better choice than HF QH because I've owned both but now strictly utilize Pat's QH. I think one can mount 3 pt Cat l (7/8'' dia.)pins aimed inside of brackets for correct Cat l lower pin spacing.

If you look at pic real close the right hand side pin probably can be reversed, on left hand side the gusset on vertical arm blocks pin from being reversed, I would cut the gusset out and move it to back side of arm and then you can expose pin of left hand side.... Note, they used same bracket on both left and right side of "A" frame, so on one side pin location is exposed (right side) and then bracket on other side (left) is reversed blocking pin hole access..... I would also consider removing the top link and consider using chain as top link...

There is a thread somewhere on here about using chain as top link...
