I've been military my entire adult life. The most important thing I've learned is this. If there's a bar fight, be the craziest guy in that fight. If you are pushed to the point of having to defend yourself, do it with malice and cruelty. Improves your chances of winning.

Also potentially more legal in places where self-defense is permitted. Self-defense laws in their own jurisdiction(s) are one of those things that everyone should be aware of for themselves -- especially in places where self-defense has effectively been inhibited/prohibited, or less-than-lethal force is more likely to result in jail time than the use of lethal force.

...and like TP it's much better to have that knowledge before you need it rather than after you're already sitting their reaching for it (only to find you don't have it).
