Tractor
kubota L4400
What do you think of either of these machines? I know the 3650 is a newer machine. I previously owned a L 4400 Kubota which I sold last year. I am in the market for a new tractor and decided to take a look at other manufacturers before I pull the trigger and the Mahindra 3650 caught my eye for what is included in the tractor. I like the stance or footprint of the machine that looks pretty beefy, I like that the joystick for the Fel is mounted close to the fender so your arm is not floating out in the air. I like that it came with two rear remotes
, quick attach bucket on the front grill guard It just looks more roomy around the operator seat. The real shocker was the price for this machine I was trying to get it with R4 tires and HST the prices I致e been getting in the Northeast from New York Pennsylvania and Connecticut have been from 38,000 to almost $40,000. I would figure this machine to be in a lesser price range and the prices I was given I could buy a Kubota MX 4800 for less. How do you like your Mahindra tractor and what did you pay for it and with what options. Thank you for your input

I love my 3550 HST. It's a strong machine that really works hard for me. It's my first tractor so I can't say how it compares to other brands but I looked at all the colors of tractors and the Mahindra was the clear winner for me.

I bought it in 2017 with FEL, Backhoe, and scrape blade for about 40k.

i have a open station 3550 hst with fel and rear remote that i have owned since april of 2017. before that i had owned a kubota L3400 which i bought new which i later traded in on a low hour grand L3240 which
i later traded in on a new grand L3940 that i later sold and bought the 3550. the kubotas were all good tractors and only had minor problems with a couple. but they were light compared to the 3550.
i have 220 hours on the 3550 and so far has been trouble free. it is a brute compared to the kubotas i've owned. also no regen to deal with. i bought the tractor during a promotion with mahindra for 27k.
i have 30 acres with about 7 in woods. plus i also maintain my fathers 50 acres which is 2/3 wooded

I bought my 3550 in 2014 for around 40k with tax (2nd rear remote, and third function on loader installed for options - no implements). I shopped at two dealers, didn't really check beyond those 2. For what I use it for, it's a great machine. It's heavier than most in its power class, with more lift capability and larger tires that help it float well through mud etc.

I've had a number of issues with my machine, which have been solved through warranty. Most of those issues were bugs that needed to be worked out with an early design (2014 was first Tier 4 year), and to my knowledge all issues I have had have been solved on newer model years.

When I had my last issue, I was thinking about trading mine in potentially for a different color, and I went and looked at the Kubota dealership down the road. I didn't think the MX series was anywhere close to my machine in ergonomics, fit and finish, or capability. It was hard to see over/around the hood, the operator platform was flimsy in comparison to mine, no tilt steering wheel, and the loader joystick wasn't comfortable to use. I also looked at an M62 - which is much, much better in terms of build quality and ergonomics than the MX, but much steeper price as well. That machine (m62)was probably marginally better than my machine in fit and finish, and exceeds capability in most areas. That said, the ground clearance is much less, and smaller tires would make working in mud and over/around rocks and tree branches less than ideal. There are things I can do with my mahindra that the M62 purely wouldn't do. So, for my purposes, it was clear to me that I have the right machine. Your particular tasks may differ, and may point you in another direction.

Also remember that the dealer is very important when issues arise. So, if there's a strong dealer reason to choose a particular color, make sure you consider that outside of the actual machine.

I have a 2018 3550 PST cab bought 8-24-19 and I ain't having to good of luck with it. Had 11 hrs on it when I bought it. Bought 37 hrs develop fuel line leak on the hose from the tank to the filter on left side leak on line right where it went into the banjo fitting. They replaced that. Also it would no hold rpm's it you set it at pto rpm. They fixed it some still will back off sometimes. Also had a hydraulic leak from the hydraulic block they said they replaced the four o-rings in there. Well I got it home put bout 2.5 hrs on it putting dirt in some stumps I burned out. Parked it in shop. Went out there a few days later and back it out was going to put my wicked tooth bar on the bucket and notice a trail of oil drops when I back it out of shop follow them to tractor and look underneath on right side and there is a big puddle of hydraulic oil on right side looks like it is coming from the hydraulic block agin. Also when you turn the steering wheel you hear a pocking undeneath the steering wheel. Told them about this when they worked on it last time and they could not find anything wrong with it. Ya right. Has about 56 hrs on it now just setting in shop can not run it cause of leak. Will be the 26th before they can get it in shop. Taking it to a different shop this time that is much closer. So I am disappointed in this one. I sold a Kubota M6800 that I had for 20 yrs and other than normal maitenance never had any problems with it. Well I did have to put seals in the hyd cycs on the loader and a water pump but nothing other than that. I don't think I am going to keep this one long. It has more time on the trailer to the shop and setting waiting for them to repair it than I have put on it. I see things on this one that are cheap and crappy design.

How in the world did you get a deal like that for the 3550? Every place I talk to wants in the mid 30s just for the tractor and loader.

Prices vary in different parts of the country it seems.

Has Mahindra resolved the issue with the cooling on the 3550/3650? I know there was a post on here about the 3550, which is basically the same tractor, having cooling problems and Mahindra trying to figure out what to do. My opinion is if they did any testing at all seems like they would have discovered a cooling issue before the tractor was ever released.
