They are nice. We have had 2 over the years and currently have our newest on our concrete patio. It is relaxing on cool nights and makes the aches and pains go away. We close it up in the winter and pretty useless on 100 degree days but it is still nice. Just the wife and I and occasional **** Star but that's about it. Bought this one online from Sams Club for around $5k on sale.

We had thought about buying a hot tub a few years back... A friend of mine that had one explained it like this..A hot tub is like a new girlfriend.. the first few weeks you are in it every night, the next few months maybe a few times a week..after that once maybe 2x a month...Then....a few months later...you to see whats on TV first.

Yep, kinda like owning a boat. Except a little cheaper. Living in the country though the stars at night are beautiful. We sit in that thing for a couple hours having beverages and then it's nighty night time. It is very relaxing. We used to keep ours open year round but found we didn't get in it much in the winter. Hot summer nights is just as bad, you just want to be inside in the AC.

In the earlier part of this thread 2014 I mention the tub I had bought. Two winters ago I went just about the whole winter without using it. I sold it over a year ago and got 2/3rds of my money back out of it which I was happy with considering you almost have to give them away at a certain age of tub.

Around here there’s been a LOT of used above ground tubs available free lately. 2 or three on Facebook Marketplace alone and I’m in a small community.

My current Hot tub is a 3 person. Very economical to operate as its well insulated. I left the power off during winter 1 night due to a blown glass fuse in controller ...I caused it while replacing ozoneator. Tub only lost 3 degrees by next afternoon. Never have clamped on a test meter to record actual use, but I doubt I spend over $10 per month to heat tub. Have tub on timed cycle, and does not heat very long to reach 102F. The circ pump is 1/10 hp so no major power factor there. Has 2 jet pumps during use that can draw power..l but only 20 minutes worth.

This tub is 5 years old now..... 1 ozone unit replaced and that is all.

You might want to re-think winter use. Many years ago a ladyfriend of mine had one, and we really enjoyed it in mid-winter (and we're talking N.H. winters here). It was very cool sitting in it in single # temperatures...warm as toast, but icicles forming in our hair. Star-gazing was awesome in those cold, clear nights.
100 degree days aren't a thing here.

That's what chemicals are for. INTERNAL use and for the hot tub. Lol.
Call me paranoid, but the idea of sitting in a tank of hot water with other people and their "hygiene", strikes me as an easy way to get something unpleasant in places that I won't elaborate on but will leave to your imagination.
