That would be a start. There is no accountability; it's too easy to spend money that isn't yours... And that you don't have to pay back.

It's OPM! Other People's Money, There are many examples through out the world as well as in our own communities as to what happens when it's OPM. I don't know of a single case where it turned out well. It starts off with good intentions, but normally within a generation it goes bad.

For decades, I have always adjusted my withholding so I had to pay when I filed my federal and state taxes. I cannot recall the last time I got a refund, probably when I was a teenager or in college. Therefore, I had to provide my routing and account information where they could deduct what I owed. I assumed (bad word) the IRS would know where to deposit the stimulus money.

When my daughter reported she received hers, I thought I'd check my status. Guess what, I found out they did not have my account information. They knew where to deduct what I owed, but were not going to use this same information to make a deposit. So, I had to provide this information.

Just an FYI - If you have not received your payment, go to the IRS.gov and confirm they have your information.

I have always tried to keep my refund to a minimum. For the past 15 years that has been easy, the personal use of my company vehicle is considered a taxable benefit.Still, I’ve always paid with a check so they don’t have any digital info.
I went online last week and they can’t even tell me if I’m going to get a check. No big deal if I don’t...

Sorry to that.
The PPP loans by SBA are fairly easy to get for traditional businesses. I know many who have been approved and funded.

Some idiots think that support the rich and that'll trickle down.
No. those subsidies will simply allow the rich to declare dividends that were past due.
But ever notice that even when fired the CEO's and VIP's always seem to get their bonusses?

And even if a company is failing, they still get a huge annual pay increase. If our pay is tied to our performance, so should theirs.

I got mine a week ago.

I kind of used it to support the forum...I ordered some tires for my tractor from Miller Tire which advertises on here. I should have my tires on Friday...

I do not need a new tractor, but it will be nice spending the money on getting it back into mint shape. A nice use of the money...a long term investment.

Myself, I am in the middle of the road on this kind of stuff. When I worked at the shipyard I used to watch people with a much different mindset than me, get mad at the company and take their sweatshirts, backpacks, turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas and throw them in the river "to show the company what they thought of them." I thought that was silly, and just shook the manager's hand and said "thanks" and was grateful.

But in my personal life, I am everything the government hates: I go to church, I love my family, I work hard, I plan for the future, I invest my money wisely, have guns for protection, and I stay out of debt. As a minimalist, I hardly keep the economy going...

The best thing we ever did was take a Dave Ramsey course at church. That was just so freeing...

They did that at the Shipyard. The Union Contract was hardly good, but "we had to be competitive," the company even hired a former presidential candidate to speak to us in massive assemblies, as "we had to be competitive to build new ships", and the day after we decided to vote for a crappy 4 year union contract, the company gave the president of the company a 10 million dollar bonus.

You do not just feel stupid after that, you feel used.

Being an old guy.....I would like to believe that you represent the norm in America.
