I think there's differing opinions on that...

I cut mostly hardwood, and there's no way my 562 would pull a 32" bar in my tree's...

SR

I use to own a 262xp with a 33 inch bar. I used a skip tooth chain on that saw for hardwood and it cut really well.

Well there are redwoods, and then there are Redwoods. This one is 361' tall, in Humboldt County, CA. Photo from last fall.

Seeing the big ones should be on everyone's bucket list. When first discovered, folks back East thought the stories of such trees were "tall tales".

My redwoods that I planted are not quite that large yet. :p

The ones my father planted are probably 60 feet tall. Weed height out here.

Yep, an annoyance for sure . . .

Another nice day here today, so I decided to get started splitting some wood. So, I drove the splitter over to the trailer with big rounds on it,

And there were some NICE blocks of firewood on that trailer! I just rolled them right onto the splitters beam,

This is the biggest round of the day,

I had to push it through the 4-way several times to get it all down to the sizes I wanted, but it's nice that those big blocks fill my half cord boxes pretty fast!

In a few days, I'll be back at it!

Nice job with those monsters.

Cool, pictures worked for the first time in more than a week!

And they was right up to, things are looking up already, grass is growing, leaves are leaving, it's it's 80* and time to jump in the pool again...........

Up here if building with hemlock it’s best to put it up green. Otherwise you will never get a nail into it without splitting, and it twists terribly.

The problem I have with dry hemlock is not the twisting it's the splitting when nailing, nails great when green but then the weight when green is a back killer, almost as bad as oak.

Monsters? . . . :confused3: . . . Duck are those monsters? . . . :)

Around here in the N.E. you don't find a lot of big wood. If I can't handle it I will rip it in half with my 372xp then split it up.

I don't like handling big stuff like that because my back hates me afterwards.

I used dry hemlock for the 3rd floor in my barn. The wood was dry and split on the first nail that I put in. I got my drill and pre-drilled the holes. A little more work but it was so much easier to nail down. Had I known about it splitting when dry I would have nailed it down green.
