A number of years ago my uncle acquired and refurbed a 10' fertilizer/lime/drop spreader. We're planning to spread 15 tons of lime in a few weeks at our hunting camp. I realized don't know much about it, and was looking for a manual. The main question I'm trying to answer is the capacity of the spreader. Does anyone recognize this spreader? It was red when we acquired it, but my uncle said he found a little green paint on one of the wheel hubs, when he took it apart. He suspects it was a Deere or Oliver. (It's Kubota orange now) Each of the two boxes are about 58" long x 19" wide x 20" deep. I don't see a way to adjust/set the flow rate, just the open close lever. Thanks!

It's NOT an eeze flow anyways.

For lime you'll likely want it "wide open" anyways. We tried spreading ag lime with one, just plugged. The lime has to be perfectly dry, we had powered ag lime and a Stolfus type spreader is what is needed. I imagine dry powdered/pellet lime would go through a 10' one easy.

I SEE YOU HAVE A GENESIS PLANTER , HOW DO YOU LIKE IT AND WHAT HAVE YOU PLANTED WITH IT?

The demensions you give are similar to the 10' NEW IDEA spreader we have. Its capacity with lime is about 1000 lbs or 100 lbs per foot of width. NEW IDEA rebadged their spreaders for a number of companies in that era. A unique feature of the New Idea spreaders was an aggitator lock out at the wheel hub similar to a J bolt that you turned 90 degrees to engage. New Idea was red with green wheels and hubs and green lettering front and back. I agree with Farmer495 that you will run it wide open when spreading which I estimate is about 2+ tons to the acre. In other words, your 1000 lbs will cover about 1100'.

And, as Farmer495 said, be sure the lime delivered is DRY and tarp it upon arrival if not used immediately. Otherwise it is a 2 man operation to spread, one to drive and one to aggitate and swear.

We'll keep it dry. It looks a lot like the New Idea spreaders, but the open/close mechanism looks a little different from the pics on the manuals seen here.

I'm pretty confident that most 10' models hold 1000lbs.

Yes, it's an RTP Genesis 3 next to the spreader. We got it last spring. We planted two different mixes, and it's worked very well so far. We're working to move to full time no till to improve our very poor soils..
