That was, as I recall, the "Deluxe" cab...I grew up in a very rural area, and most of us were "pooooooor". One of the guys in the class behind me, had some wheat ground of his own...and in 1954, he bought a new Chevy pickup; it was red with white walls, deluxe cab, it had an automatic transmission, a hydramatic I believe, dual exhaust and dual carbs on that Chevy six. It was the most beautiful and sexy thing I had ever seen. I have only seen one other pickup with that transmission.

I only get excited when I see old 40s-50s-60s pickups that are 4x4, it gives me whiplash if driving, same with 4x4 tractors and 50s and 60s cars will make me slam the brakes on.

I've saw a few vehicles in my life that were classy and unique. Wouldn't it be cool to have that truck today!!!!!

I bought a 47 Dodge long bed truck with a busted piston 35 years ago. Gave it to my younger Son. It's all original and pretty solid. It's parked in his front yard.

Bought a 54 Chevy "ton truck" 30 years ago. Dual wheels on the back. Was a Gasoline delivery truck but doesn't have the bed. Gave it to my eldest Son. He has it parked in his front yard.

Yeah, we're redneck. They get a lot of comments and interested buyers. Not for sale. Hopefully when they are old like me they'll restore them or at least get them running.

I remember the transmission name, I think it was two speed, was popular on Holden cars here up to the early/mid 60's which of course were GM.

You may be thinking of the Power glide; first power glide I recall was in a 1952 chevy car; it was a two speed. Here's an article on the Hydramatic:
