Santa Clara County Public Health in California has announced autopsy results showing a patient who died on Feb. 6 had COVID-19 23 days before the first novel coronavirus death was declared in the U.S.

So either coronavirus is not as deadly as we think or its not as contagious.
Got a link for that? I'd like to learn more about it.

That's Silicon Valley. A major early hot spot in the US.

Maybe demographics are different there: One of the first locations in the US to shut down. Fewer elders in rest homes. More best-n-brightest young professionals from all over the world. High incomes and far more overseas vacations, and more people with foreign relatives, so lots of international travel in both directions. Likely better average health, those are the types who go to the gym in the morning before going to work. Bicycle commuters. (Stereotypes based on my relatives there. :) ) I wonder if demographic factors make Santa Clara County not typical for forecasting purposes. I'll be interested to see what your source says about all this, and hopefully learn more about what that county's experience forecasts for the rest of us.

FWIW.. one of our dealer meetings was mid February in AZ...A minimum of 15 people ended up extremely sick with flu like symptoms. One of my friends went from the meeting back home to Honolulu,,,then straight to the emergency room, He was diagnosed with walking pneumonia ....as I'm sure they were not diagnosing Covid at the time.. Same scenario with a friend that went back to Baltimore and another to San Fran. and 2 more to NY... I would bet the farm that they all had it.
My friend in Hawaii spent 2 weeks in bed barely able to stay awake or even breathe ..Same with my friend in Baltimore. The SF and NY cases were less severe.

My cabbage plants are already started in hot trays in the house along with the tomatoes and zucchini. This year will be another Kraut year.:licking:

I need to build a new stand for my sand bed before I start anything. I do have lettuce and spinach started in a box out in my greenhouse, but that isn't heated and the nights still get pretty cold. (We got a coating of snow last night.) Even in the greenhouse, soil temp in the flat dropped from 62 to 40 yesterday.

Cali, I think the links are already out there in this thread.

We’ve been sticking to anecdotal comments in this thread so I’m not throwing “links” out to back up every comment like used to be done in FP.

I trust you’re not going to bring that same attitude into this thread.

As to how the virus is effecting me, I’ve decided to stop watching the so called news. Can’t do it anymore. It’s like a vacuum sucking the positive energy out of me.

Hopefully, this thread survives. The posting of news clips just ruins the intentions of the OP.

I feel the same way sometimes about watching news. And normally when some ask “Got a link for that?” it is just preface for trying to start an argument.

More times than not, when someone says something as fact, people would like to know where it came from, hence the source request.

"I heard somewhere"
"I read somewhere"

well, where? We'd like to read more about it. Hearsay and rumors don't hold up in court. And each of us is holding court right between our ears. We'd like to hear all the evidence before making a judgement for ourselves, and, likewise, we'd like to get the facts out there so others can do the same for themselves.

You can't escape hearing about it, unless you completely tune out of society. Go to my MSN homepage, 75% of the articles are some version of "Coronavirus." Turn on the news and it's the same thing. I turn on Sirius and they are always harping some version of "listen to us, we're helping to..." For a platform which touts itself as having no commercials, they certainly have enough of them. I'm getting so that I enjoy mainstream radio again, after listening to XM's self promotions and lack of variety .

Completely agree if this was a thread that required vetting information. Why do we need a news article to know how this virus is personally effecting us? The news as Two_bit put it, invites conflict. We have mandates from our state governors offices. Follow them and forget what is going on in NYC.
