Talked to my BIL who works at a TN state lab. He told me that the cases had dropped to where they are now transferring all testing from private labs to state labs only.

I know we are all sick of this. It seems that most of our deaths are nursing home residents. We had a 10 day old infant test positive in our county, no hospitalization needed he was sent home and has gotten well.

Getting a lot done. Finishing my tractor shed, planted a new raspberry bed, pruned out the blackberry canes and changed the trans fluid in the riding mower.

Wellllll, he does make some noteworthy points.
The most distinguishing factor about this virus is it is VERY contagious and spreads easily, but I believe it痴 mortality rate is greatly exaggerated by the newly emerging numbers on those already infected. The models have been awfully inaccurate. The experts have been way off. The projections have been pathetic.
The biggest point is the way that this has become highly politicized to the point of destroying lives to score political points. Many of our politicians have been anything BUT leaders, preferring to take a pretty bad crisis and turning it into an opportunity to add pork and divert funds to pet projects. That is sick.
For one thing the "mortality rate" is a false fact if it is determined by those who die divided by those who test positive. When in some places you have to be in severe distress or almost dead to just get a test.
Total deaths and the increase in deaths over a normal flu season tells me something bad is going on.

More times than not, when someone says something as fact, people would like to know where it came from, hence the source request.

"I heard somewhere"
"I read somewhere"

well, where? We'd like to read more about it. Hearsay and rumors don't hold up in court. And each of us is holding court right between our ears. We'd like to hear all the evidence before making a judgement for ourselves, and, likewise, we'd like to get the facts out there so others can do the same for themselves.

As far as the patient who died on Feb 6; they really didn't say what he/she died from. Rather it was merely stated that they tested positive. Was it respiratory failure, or did he/she die in an auto accident? Did their heart stop? That last one could be listed as COD for everyone who ever died. They/we really don't know enough about this virus to make the assumptions which some are making. I stated 6 weeks ago that if the country was shut down and the virus didn't spread as projected we would never really know how many lives were saved, if any. I still will stand behind that statement. Yet it seems like most of the people calling for the country to reopen are those with the least exposure if the virus does explode.

OTOH a coworker claims that every pandemic we've ever had was in a presidential election year.

The problem of posting links is that the "other side" won't believe the links you post, and we won't believe the links the "other side" post. Posting links is just a waste of time. People WILL NOT be informed by posting links. Most of us don't even attempt to read the links the opposition post's. All of our minds are already made up. Don't bother us with "facts". There are no facts, just opinions. And opinions are like ********, we all have them and they all stink. There are two realities, and there is an 180 degree phase reversal between those alternate realities.

Here is an example. I posted in one of the closed threads, the the WHO parroted the Chinese talking points that the Wuhan Flu was not transmissible from human to human When the Chinese knew that it was and that the WHO said that the travel ban from China was unwarranted. I was challenged by two other members from the "other side", and when proof was posted by others it was questioned. It doesn't matter if FACTS are posted, if it doesn't come from a site that is approved by the "other side" it IS NOT A FACT. There are no facts. To this very day, and with all the information that has come out of the investigation of the Chinese and the WHO, many here right this second believes that the Chinese Communist party is a great organization and the WHO is a bening helpful agency. I don't believe either. So tell me again why we need links in a thread about "how we are being affected by the virus"?

Why not rename this thread Covid-19 11? That is where it is headed if we keep posting links.

I was just thinking along the same lines.

On another note; how is your daughter doing out in New York? (As I not so subtly attempt to change the direction this thread is heading.)
