FORD F150 or F250

I have a 14 F250 gas burner. As some stated, it is not about going as much as it is about stopping. I don't tow that often, but when I do, the F250 is so much better than the F150. Not as good on mileage when not loaded and it drives and rides like a truck. But I drive it most of the time. Hard to park in town. Make sure you check the tow capacity as the brakes on the gas engine are smaller. Hence the gas burner has less tow capacity.

Should you decide to go with the F-150 consider the Max Tow pkg which includes 3.73 E-lock axle, larger fuel tank and factory brake controller. Add larger trailer mirrors which are no longer included in pkg as well as LT tires for more sidewall strength when towing. Consider adding Firestone Ride Rite air helper springs to help with trailer sway and tongue weight when towing.

IIRC one needs both Max Tow and Max Payload packages and standard cab to get the 13,200 pound towing. That includes Load Range E tires which have more capacity but less traction and poorer ride.

My 2018 F-150 XLT 4x4 SCAB has about 8,000 pound rated tow. Would be less for SCREW because of the increased weight of vehicle.

I will never own another half ton. 3/4 ton or get a car. I actually have both now. 3/4 ton is used for truck things and the car is used for daily driving. It works perfect for me. I have tried buying half tons twice over the past ten years one of which was an eco boost and I was disappointed both times.

Considering a new truck. I do not pull my travel trailer or tractor (Ford 5000) very often. I am not interested in purchasing diesel power.
The new 4WD F150 Eco boost V6 tow rating is 13,200lbs. 4WD F250 gas powered is rated at 15,000lbs.
4WD F-250 operating & maintenance expense is more and getting in and out of parking spaces in town may be more difficult, (the difference in purchase price is not an issue).
I am asking for experience/thoughts out there from anyone that may have been thru this scenario when buying a new Ford, what did you buy and are you happy. Thanks.

Just travel using motels and hotels. Scrap the travel trailer.

When you need a haul the tractor, have the dealer come get it or rent a big truck.

In the meantime, save fuel by buying a Ford Ranger.

F150 will work.

Key here is "do not pull very often"

I have a Max Tow ecoboost, 11,200 rated for my truck's model year. As mentioned, not all ecoboosts have the high tow rating, some are like 7000 lb.

Nicer ride, better on fuel.

I had a 7.3 diesel 250 6-speed with firestone air bags, didn't handle the same trailers any better than the Max Tow.

Yes 7000lbs is for the 2.7 ecoboost. The 3.5 ecoboost all tow around 10,000+lbs.

Kind of hard to recommend anything based on this. What is "not very often"? How much does the TT weigh? How much does the Ford/trailer weigh? How far do you go when you do tow? What does your daily driving routine look like? Do you have other vehicles available to drive?

Details matter. ;)

I love my 2.7EB F150 because it does everything I need to do perfectly. YMMV. :)

Furthermore, even if its only once, its too often.
We all run overloaded sometimes, maybe don’t even know it. I get it.
But if you are overloaded just once, you could have an accident. Especially if the OP knows the weight of his trailer and payload.

Same. I hate half tons. Even on loads that’s within the capacity they handle like crap.
