Blame no...condemn yes...
It sucks to see America become so pathetic because the younger generations are more concerned with their own satisfaction and well being than respect those that sacrificed so much and made it possible for them...

The best thing I think we have going for us is still the fact that its largely a non lethal virus. Thank the Lord its not the Andromeda Strain ?
IMO, herd immunity for the healthy, as awful as it sounds along with quarantine for the elderly and unhealthy and closing off hot spots is the only way out. Drink from the bitter cup and get it over with. See Sweden.
If we spend months and years protecting ourselves from it, we will be trying to get by with 15-20 million people collecting unemployment for longer than the system can handle. We will lose a lot of additional people from depression, abuse, suicide and poverty. Bankruptcies galore, increased crime and all the invasion of privacy from the gubmit with tracking and tracing and tests and wristbands.
Life free or die men, thatç—´ what Im thinking.
Im no rocket surgeon for sure, but the longer this goes on, the worse it seems to be making our situation?
U-uhm/or we could just figure out testing and use the information that would forthcome.

Well, it looks to me now that we HAVE figured out testing and a whole lot more people have this than we knew before. Like by a factor of 10 at least

According to Cuomo, there are a large number of New Yorkers walking around a symptomatic.

Read post #411 again. Who is being concerned with their own satisfaction?

Did I "earn" retirement, SS and Medicare etc. or am I just making your and my children pay? It's a tough one.

It's a ponzi scheme. Plan and simple.

I don't even want the bus to stop when I get off.....

ETA an interesting aside:
"Charles Ponzi was an Italian swindler and con artist in the U.S. and Canada. "

The assumption that we can live even remotely normal lives with this virus because so many get over it is over looking the fact that America is on the cusp where a large percentage of the populous is reaching retirement age and beyond...who are more vulnerable to severe symptoms...
Are grandparents supposed to just give up visiting their children and grandchildren so younger people can act like it's not such a big deal ??

No. At least not my take on it. They should keep social distancing wearing masks, gloves, etc until effective treatments come along for the aged and Co morbidities.
We really have no other choice until that happens.

Do we have enough time left on the clock to figure out testing and test that many people? Or will 20 million become 50 million unemployed and then the poverty, looting, stealing and crime will overwhelm us by the time they figure out how to “ use the information “?
I have no problem waiting on testing, but dont shrug off herd immunity. It works. In fact, herd immunity is the long term answer, not testing everyone day, wearing masks and gloves and staying home forever.

Remember, the unemployment issue is going to bring us into a depression of unimaginable destruction. Very few if any of us lived during the depression and remember it well. That’s going to kill a crap ton of people more than the virus.

And just to clarify, Im not suggesting a reckless return to work. All the at risk stay home. All the hot spots stay locked down until treatments are figured out, but if the state of Maine has 55 deaths, but the oldest average age population of any state in the country, we have to see theres got to be some common sense applied.
Let those people get back to work, before they overwhelm their state.

Too few people want to understand. The science will find another unknown every week that spins up the fear and doubt of the virus and our risk.

In a year, we will realize 250,000 dead would have been a bargain. My rough numbers are an impact of $5 trillion. That is a cost of $2,000,00 per life....of mostly health compromised people. And I have not factored in the lives we will lose because the majority of medical facilities have been shuttered or the jobs that will take years to come back.

Yes. Yes, they are. If they want to live. And if their children and grandchildren will respect that if they want them to live.

If your kids have the flu or anything else maybe they shouldn’t be with grandparents anyway.

I really don’t get sick. At least not to the point it ever stops me from doing anything. I get congestion from allergies at times in the year and get a slight cold sometimes but I don’t hang around with people when I am coughing and sneezing.

I am not on any Rx of any kind and never have been. I don’t go visit people in hospitals if I can possibly avoid it because hospitals are too dangerous. When I have to I get in and out ASAP.

I’m 64. Nobody is guaranteed another minute.
