I can attest to the the older saws numbing your hands after hours of usage. I started clearing for my house lot back in 73 using a Mac 1010. After a few hours of straight usage I would have to go move the wood to give my hands a break. Eventually that saw died and I bought a brand new Husqvarna 50. I was so impressed when I got to use that saw. That was replaced by a new Husky 55. Then came the time to have a bigger saw. I bought a used Mac Pro 610 and a Pro 650. Those saws could cut wood. They were nowhere near as fast as an XP but they got the job done. I eventually latched on to a Husqvarna 262XP and that changed my life completely about cutting wood easily. All the other saws were sold off. My next purchase were a pair of the 2nd generation 346XP 's and a 372XP all bought brand new. I sold off the 262XP. I have used a Stihl 290 once for a few hours to cut up a couple of 2 foot Cherry trees. I thought that it had more vibes than my XP's. My ex BIL was using my 346XP and thought that my saw was better than his 290.
Ok then so it wasn't just me that notice vibration from them older saws.
I bought that same 346xp I think back in 08-09, nice little saw but burnt up in my shop in March 13, I was going replace with same saw but Husqvarna replaced it with a 550xp, so bought that and it turned out to be on the lemon side, that same 550xp got wore out in Nov. 18. I replace with another 550xp that runs better last Jan 2019 and then sometime around April 2019 Husqvarna came out with a new improved 550xp, THEY say.

It looks like you had your fare share Huskys. In the last 40+ years I've about 6-8 Huskys, 2 Jonsered's, had 1 lemon Stihl in 90s so all in all I had pretty good luck with Husqvarna.

Actually, it was a little over 3/4 cord...

I think we are going to cut another load tomorrow, so I'll have some more to split later...

It's been quite a while since I cut down a tree that wasn't damaged, but this one WAS still alive,

Thrown in wood is harder to guess for me, I'd be a little leery of buying 2 cord of firewood that way unless it a well know firewood dealer, for the most part firewood dealers make sure you get what you pay for, they tend to like repeat customers.

The legal definition of a thrown cord is 180 cubic feet. I don't know how you're supposed to measure that though, after it's been dumped onto your driveway out of 4570Man's ton truck.

You could always measure it before I dump it which is a fairly accurate measurement but I’ve never had anyone do that.

Couldn’t you do it by weight as well?

Not really. The first question everyone is going to ask is how many cord or “rick” is that. And firewood weight changes quite a bit plus the hassle of weighing it.

Ok then so it wasn't just me that notice vibration from them older saws.

Pretty much all chainsaws from the 70s and earlier did nothing to isolate the engine from the handles. Today, pretty much all saws sold use rubber cylinders or springs to isolate and reduce vibrations felt by your hands. Exceptions are some of the smaller new consumer chainsaws like those made by Poulan.

Who the heck is rick?
