Help with swapping hydraulic hoses to check weak track

What controls your valve body? Is it direct or pilot controls. Mine has 3 sections. Gear for pilot controls, 2 piston pumps for main functions. Yours may just have one pump for all functions. If that is the case it is probably a worn wheel motor. I cannot see how your pump gets fluid. Its possible one is the feed, one pressure and other is the case drain.

Hi racerboy832, when you say "probably a worn wheel motor", are you referring to the final drive with the sprocket? I'm not familiar with specific terminology. Thanks!

The wheel motor on a track machine is the hydraulic motor that runs the final drive (the gear reduction between the hydraulic motor and the sprocket that drives the track)

Thanks Aaron, much appreciated for the description.

So, on that note ... I had an earlier unanswered question which is : Since it does spin forward & reverse when lifted up in the air without load, does this in any way rule out problems with the hydraulic wheel motor? Or it might still be a faulty/worn hydraulic wheel motor?

Would be great to hear thoughts of you guys on this! Thanks in advance.

When there is no weight on the machine it takes very little to spin the track. However if the hydraulic side is worn when you get a load on it the pressure bypasses out the third hose.

And the other option is that there is something wrong in the valve that controls hydraulic flow to the motor and it is by passing through the pressure relief instead of sending fluid to the motor.

Since the hoses are so nice and easy to switch around, that would be a plan. However, it does seem unlikely to be an issue in the valve spool. Probably the track motor. Pretty common failure.
