Gas station half a mile from my front gate is $1.99 for diesel, and if I'm in Tyler, it's ten cents cheaper.

I saw 'on road' diesel for $1.69 a gallon at the same little station where I paid $1.79 about a week ago. Most other local stations are at $2.29 which is about $0.60 per gallon difference. I would say that most places are making more on diesel than they usually do right now.

I'm sure that some are. But a huge factor is, right now, fuel prices are falling almost daily. If the station bought a transport load (8000 gallons) a week or two ago, they can't lower their price or they go in the hole. I have skid tanks here at my place for on-road and off-road. I bought 500 gallons on-road two weeks ago for $2.08. Right now, it's actually cheaper at the pump in a few places. But I still have 300 gallons. My cost is "set" at $2.08 until that's gone.

In response to the post where you started this thread back up, I completely agree with you. Cheap fuel is nice for the end user, but I'd rather be paying $2.50 a gallon and see my friends working instead of laid off.

I agree. Years ago I had a skid tank I would use for diesel. It seems that every time I put 300 gallons in it, fuel prices at the pump would go down. I switched to using a fuel card and now I can better track my purchases and mileage, and we have the option to buy at the cheapest pump. This works better for me in my business.

I do have a 100 gallon transfer tank on my truck that I use for tractor fuel. For this tank, I use a separate fuel card and at the end of the year, when I do my taxes, I get the road use tax back for all purchases on that particular card.
