Just some data points.

I just bought an MX5400 and it's great, and I have a lot of hilly terrain, and the tractor is _wider_ than pretty much any lower HP model Kubota makes. It's doing very well on the hills.

I spent $44K (not incl. taxes) for the HST model with ROPS, loaded tires and attachments as in the following image. That's the heavy duty bucket, medium duty 6' rotary cutter (w/ slip clutch - expensive choice), heavy duty scraper. Of course I paid a premium for the attachments buying it this way, but I'm okay with that. Got what I wanted and needed, warrantees, dealer support, etc.

If I wanted to haul the tractor with loader, bucket, and cutter, well, that's 7000 lbs, and even if I had the trailer for that (which would probably weigh at least 2000 lbs) , it would be dicey to do this on my my 9000 lb nominally rated truck.

Anyway, food for thought perhaps. The MX is six kinds of awesome and I'm lovin' it. Good luck.

Thanks for the attachment with pricing. Very helpful! Glad to hear you are liking the MX. I am going to reach out to the local Kubota dealer and price out a brand new one. May be the way I go if I can't work out a deal on this one.

The other tactic I have sometimes used if it looks like there is a pretty good spread between what I want to pay and what the seller is willing to take is to say:

Look, I can't quite get to your number. I wish you luck in selling it. I am willing to give you $xxxx, so at least you have a number that someone will give you. Here's my telephone number if you want to make the sale.

Yes, this is probably the tactic I will have to take. Thanks!

I would probably replace all the fluids too, even the coolant. To me, that sounds like a good step. It has been sitting a long time. May end up having issues with the battery too. That's a long time for them to sit also. Hopefully it was on a battery tender.

You'll know more about it after you see it in person.

Nothing wrong with walking away if the numbers don't add up for you.

Good luck.

Start with BUILD MY KUBOTA on Kubota/USA web site. Make two copies, one for you and one for the dealer. Then you will both be on the same page and dealer will know you have done your homework and are a shopper ready to order......at the right price.

Yes, this is probably the tactic I will have to take. Thanks!

If you look at the tractor check it carefully for rodent damage. Squirrels and mice love to chew on wiring especially the soy based insulation they use on modern products. They can total a vehicle in no time.

Good luck!

Good looking tractor. Nice condition and equipment. My only thought is that youæ±*e looking at a Lot of tractor for 7 acres. You could easily get a new, smaller 35-40 horse with the toys you want for significantly less $$, and have a unit that would do anything youæ±*e gonna want to do on your place. Also a smaller rig would be more maneuverable...just a thought.

I have both a 3 acre 1/2 wooded lot and an 80 acre farm. My MX5200 spends most of it's time on the 3 acres. I find it works out great. The only thing I don'd do with it is mow. Use the Deere X748 for that. The MX is one of my favorite tractors. I traded a larger New Holland TN75D with cab for the open station MX. I much prefer the open station for closeup work.

That's good to hear you don't feel the MX is too big for your 1/2 wooded 3 acre lot. This is a big investment for my property and the future use of my property. I really don't want to buy too small or too big of a tractor to get the work done.
