My parents were bitten by a rabid fox years ago. I've always thought if a wild animal is acting abnormally I suspect rabies. I'd much rather assume an animal has rabies, err on side of caution not touching it. Even just saliva I understand you could get rabies.
Whole family had to go through rabies shots 3 years ago. Saliva has to get in your blood, mouth, eyes for you to get it. If unsure, best to get the shots, as it's statistically 100% fatal.
