I think it is a bit premature for some tractor dealers to "be on the ropes now".
There is always a lag time for such events.
Maybe wait until December, then add in car dealers too?

Depending on the outcome of the virus, city people could be leaving in droves for fly over country. These folks generally have never even held a shovel, pick, rake, hammer, etc. in their hands.
The first thing they will buy is a sub or compact size tractor, or hire someone who also buys this equipment. I just emailed a gentleman who owns a major name brand dealer about a used RTV. His name is mentioned here quite often. He said his salesmen are swamped with calls.
I look at this through a different set of lenses than most of you do. I see nothing but an upswing in demand and sales for the outdoor power equipment industry. Combine that with shuttered factories due to outbreaks and it could drive prices even higher.
IMO, those who think they are going to swagger into the dealership and demand everything they want for pennies on the dollar are living in a fantasy land. Self sufficiency, or the somewhat higher sense of security by living off the land and the non-human contact offered by hobby farming will explode IF the cure proves difficult and living on top of each other downtown proves more dangerous to ones health.

In addition, this could drive the price of farmette sized real estate through the roof.

When picking up filters from my dealer for the 50 hr service, I hesistantly asked how business has been.

He started 20 some years ago as a chainsaw repair shop out of his garage, and has slowly expanded. About 5 years ago he moved into a new building and now carries a full line of zero turn mowers, 2 lines of chainsaws, a few other associated power equipment manufacturers, and LS tractors. While it's a mom and pop place, it's very well run, and is a top notch showroom floor.

He said he has been so busy it's killing him. He's seen an increase in tractor sales year over year each year he's carried them, and lately, each month he's been setting new records for tractors sales.

RSR posted the links to info. It speaks for itself. Believe what you like.

Again it is only one law suit not multiple.
The information does not give both sides of the story, just that a law suit was settled. This does not prove or disprove anything and we all know or should know that just because something is settled out of court that the allegations not always true.
In this case I honestly believe that the hood design was the only thing they might have had a chance with in court from the start, but knowing the courts and seeing here first hand how simple minded people are I would have settled to avoid having to pay more even if I was innocent.

Again people act like kubota invented the tractor or something but I have owned ford and others long befor kubota was ever around and see many things they must have copied from them on thier machines.

Show me the fact statements from the attorneys filings with the court, then we will talk about the truth not an assumption based on a vaguely written statement.

I am with you on that one. A local realtor, a good friend, told me their calls for rural properties are way up. People want land, privacy, and commuting distance to a city.

You just might be right!
I certainly hope that you are....on all points,... except the "If the cure proves difficult" part.

When the millennials etc. move outside of city limits the businesses that will prosper the most will be yard maintenance/landscaping companies...older generations that wanted out have already moved out...that is what has driven the cut/scut business to where it is now...
...The majority of the younger generations are not moving out of the cities to become hobby farmers they are moving away from the crowds...

The majority of yuppies will not be giving up their gym memberships to replace them with manual labor keeping up their own lawns etc...!

.!

In my area, you couldn’t be further from the truth. They are doing both: getting away from the crowds to become hobby farmers. We have people moving out here from Philly and New York growing hemp, raising goats, etc. and most of em are dumber than a concrete block. After a few years of it, theyll sell the goats or sheep and be calling people like me to mow their 10-20 acres.

...

In addition, this could drive the price of farmette sized real estate through the roof.

In my area, this has been happening for a few years now. Lots of micro-breweries, vineyards and "organic" farms. Lots of people sitting in front of local government asking for zoning and ordnance changes.

And on the real estate side, the prices are un-obtainable for those without serious $$$.

My wife and I wanted to buy a more substantial farm and all the city riff raff have moved in and drove up the prices beyond what we or any locals can afford.
With it, they bring their ways of life, namely high taxes, public pools, libraries, parks bike trails, etc. Then we all pay the 1% local tax and higher property taxes to pay for the new high school swimming pool.
My kids were excellent competitive swimmers. We didn’t need a high school pool. They swam their meets at local colleges and swim clubs just fine.

We had a smarter-than-the-room lady move into our area from Chicago and bought a hobby farm.
She went to all the school board meetings to let us know what a bunch of uneducated, overweight slobs we were. She got some new programs passed, one of which was a $65,000 paved walking trail (we already have 5 walking trails with lots of deferred maintenance, trash, soiled diapers, etc).
2 years later she moved away and left us with the bill.
