I think it is a bit premature for some tractor dealers to "be on the ropes now".
There is always a lag time for such events.
Maybe wait until December, then add in car dealers too?
Depending on the outcome of the virus, city people could be leaving in droves for fly over country. These folks generally have never even held a shovel, pick, rake, hammer, etc. in their hands.
The first thing they will buy is a sub or compact size tractor, or hire someone who also buys this equipment. I just emailed a gentleman who owns a major name brand dealer about a used RTV. His name is mentioned here quite often. He said his salesmen are swamped with calls.
I look at this through a different set of lenses than most of you do. I see nothing but an upswing in demand and sales for the outdoor power equipment industry. Combine that with shuttered factories due to outbreaks and it could drive prices even higher.
IMO, those who think they are going to swagger into the dealership and demand everything they want for pennies on the dollar are living in a fantasy land. Self sufficiency, or the somewhat higher sense of security by living off the land and the non-human contact offered by hobby farming will explode IF the cure proves difficult and living on top of each other downtown proves more dangerous to ones health.
In addition, this could drive the price of farmette sized real estate through the roof.
