Walmart has diesel at $1.55 here in Pensacola. Down the road at a Shell it's $2.49, almost a dollar more.

Drove halfway across Illinois yesterday to pick up my daughters stuff from college and for the first time in a long time saw a station that diesel was less than gas. I think the diesel was $1.89 a gallon. It seemed like as a rule it was hovering around $1.99 on average.

I agree. Years ago I had a skid tank I would use for diesel. It seems that every time I put 300 gallons in it, fuel prices at the pump would go down. I switched to using a fuel card and now I can better track my purchases and mileage, and we have the option to buy at the cheapest pump. This works better for me in my business.

I do have a 100 gallon transfer tank on my truck that I use for tractor fuel. For this tank, I use a separate fuel card and at the end of the year, when I do my taxes, I get the road use tax back for all purchases on that particular card.

I have skid tanks for my convenience, not necessarily to save money. 5 diesel tractors, plus the mini-x and side-by-side. Don't tell my fuel supplier, but I would pay whatever they want to charge for off-road diesel! I can't fill them all up with cans, or even the 50 gallon transfer tank. (I put 30 gallons in the 5090M yesterday, and that was just about 1/2 tank) And, it's about a 20 mile drive north or south to a fuel supplier.
The on-road tank is also mostly convenience. 20 miles to a truck stop. I can buy diesel for the Peterbilt at a station closer than that, but only if some little car isn't blocking the pump. It's just easier knowing that I have fuel at home.

Filled up the RAM Cummins for $1.89 per gallon and my 5-gallon diesel jugs with off-road diesel for $1.39 a gallon.

Same deal with me plus my 30 KW standby genset is diesel powered and it runs of the bulk tank.

No taxes correct.

I might add that Avery sells gasoline with no ethanol in it at the office/yard. Pump is across from the office and what you put in is the honor system. I get my lawnmower gas there. Little engines run so much better on non weasel pee.
