I knew rhino lining it would be a disaster. I thought there might have been an alternate that provides a smooth surface on the floor and up the sides. I did recall that large companies with long side dumps had a layer of dirt on the bottom before the boulders go in. I like the layering idea of wood chips and pallets. Something to consider. Also added some tie downs for the cord to pass through so it don't fall off the fender and get run over

When I borrow my nieghbors dump trailer for rocks/boulders, I just throw in some osb sheets that I cut to 6' long (to put across sideways). Easy protection. Sometimes they slide out with the load, sometimes not. If they get stuck under a boulder when they do slide out, well you probably have a tractor near by to shove them off, should you need to go get another load.

I do not have a dump truck or dump trailer, a dump trailer is on my list of things I think I need this year so I've been looking, but that's as far as my experience goes. I understand not using a pickup truck bed liner, but what about a dump truck liner of UHMW plastic? It is slick and abrasion resistant. I have no experience with this stuff other than in my wood shop on small scale projects and this the first place that showed up on a google search.

I have now hauled 2 loads of gravel and 4 loads of 1 1/2" drain rock in mine. Other than some scratches it looks like new. The PJ is a well made trailer. Even overloaded a little it effortlessly lifts the bed. It's rated at 5000 pound load. If I put 6000 in the axles are at rated and the rest is on the truck. My hitch is rated for 1500 dead tounge weight at the weakest component so nothing is overloaded but everything is at max. The truck has auto adjust airbags so it stays level. And it is stable enough that I have been able to move and dump it hooked to the reciever in my fork attachment on my 2025R Deere. I needed some rock where the truck wouldn't fit. I was going to dump it in the driveway and shuttle it there with the loader. But it's a long way so it tried it with the tractor. I will admit I was concerned about moving and dumping a trailer with about 1000 pounds more than rated weight with my MCUT. But it moved it effortlessly and the dumps were smooth. The trailer is very stable. I have a heavy cable to the tractor battery that plugs into the heavy cable I added to my trailers on the tractor. Although it has a smaller alternator I think it still helps the dump battery. But not as much as the truck with 2 large batteries and a 140 amp alternator. Although I may not actually need either. But it keeps the battery fully charged. The last load of drain rock I needed a little more than 6000 pounds to finish. I got 7200 pounds. The scale has a readout. As I drove on I checked it by axle group knowing what they were empty. It added 1520 to the rear truck axle so 20 pounds over the hitch rating. It was just under 7800 on the trailer so 800 over and 400 over per axle. Not very far away so I am sure it didn't hurt anything. Even that load dumped no problem even moved and dumped on the tractor. I really like this little PJ trailer. And it also gives me a 10 foot pickup type bed that can hold a little more weight than my 6 1/5 foot 3/4 ton pickup bed. So it will be useful that way too.

I’m almost afraid to ask how much it would cost. Have you inquired yet?

When large rocks are dropped in bed they tend to dent. I prep my trailer for the rocks. Boulders, I wont load unless they are "placed" in the trailer by a good equipment operator. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

No I haven't. I don't have a dump truck or dump trailer. I'm hoping someone who needs something like this will try it out and report the results.

Personally...if i get dents so what. Its a dump trailer. Mine is about 4 years old, stored indoors all winter but outside all summer. Has some dents, but so what. I sure like it when hauling junk, trees, roots to dump though.

Mines a big tex 7,500# tandem wheel. I looked at the PJ rigs on the lot but the ones they had were too large for my needs. If i go too large the dump charges for each load. The 5x10 trailer skirts the charges
