Propane-Powered Lawn and Garden Products – LEHR

All I see is new though, not something you'd want to scavenge the engine off of for a hobby.

I have actually worked on that exact trimmer, and may even have one in the bone yard that somebody ran without oil.

Now, I am pretty old, and have seen a lot of things, but I have never seen, nor heard of a propane powered string trimmer. Or any other lawn and garden power tool...It is as if you had said , "back when I was a kid the sun came up in the west". Or something similar.

You are not alone James, I had never heard of such a thing either. I find it odd that while being a "tool connoisseur", I never ran across one but nevertheless.........

They make refillable containers. Three years ago I paid just shy of $10 for one so the price is crazy high right now. I use them camping in my RV as I prefer to cook outside. At one time I had a propane battery shower when I had just a pop-up. Yep, never knew they made propane trimmers.

I really loved driving two ex police cars, one factory propane (Dodge Diplomat) and the other a converted Malibu.

Loved the smell, and just the thought. Engine oil always looked like the day it went in.

Never heard of one either. When i use my weed burner on my drive, i have 20 pound cylinder on a hand truck. Even with that, still not a lot of fun.

So, to answer a few questions.

I am building a propane powered "outboard" for his kayak.
I can get a min outboard "lower end" that accepts a standard weed wacker motor, cost 40-50 bucks.
I don't like gas outboards for a million and one reasons.

If I can find a used propane weed wacker, pull the engine and bolt it on the outboard lower, then replace small cylinder connection with a hose,, I have a few 4# refillables.

So I would have a 1hp propane outboard for the kayak for ~100 bucks
