I was 16 when I rode my bike to see Star Wars in 1977. I was the 4th one in on opening day. For it's time, the special effects were incredible. I really enjoyed that movie. Today, it's hard for people that have never seen it to think it was something. Kinda like when I was a kid and tried to watch Flash Gordon. It was terrible. You could see the strings holding the spaceships up. But for kids who saw it originally it was amazing, because they'd never seen anything like it before.

I was a deputy Sheriff in Greene County Mo in 77. and got off of work and went by myself to watch Star Wars. I didn't think much of the promo's and didn't think it would amount to much, and did not have a date to take that night, I arrived about 10 to 15 minutes into the movie (Droids were in the Jawa's "junk truck"). Wow, I was spellbound a few minutes in. On the edge of my seat for the rest of the movie. The next thing I wanted to do was find me a date and take her to the movie. Which I did. I think I watched it 4 times that year. I considered it one of the best movies I had been to in a long time.

Two worthless movies: Frank Zappa's 1000 Motels. and Joe vs. the Volcano. Plenty of others sucked, but those two stand out.

Men in Black was like you said, Hilarious.

Caddyshack was indeed good. I thought the Chevy Chase Vacation movies were more stupid than funny. Blues Brothers at least had a plot, it's been a while since I watched it but never really considered it to be a comedy.

A lot of my coworkers are into the "Jackass" genre... I never could see the attraction. As I've said before I prefer a good book. Even the Bosch series discussed in another thread wasn't that interesting, although I've read every book in the series.

Fun fact ... or not so fun. Bill Murray and Chevy Chase were never on set at the same time due to some sort of dispute between them. If you'll notice, they never appear in the same scene. In fact, many of Murray's scenes are solo while Chase is almost always with others.

They supposedly had a knock down drag out fight on set at SNL. Chase always gave me the impression of a Prima Donald.

I attempted to watch Jackass, but about 10-15 minutes into it, even I had to turn it off.

They did appear in the same scene at Carl's living quarters...
