No need to look, you can find that end here. Swivel End Fitter - T3 - Hud-son For 50 bucks though, I'd take care not to lose the one that I had. ;)

$50 is worth it for that thing.

Sunny 70 today, what a nice day to split some wood, so I drove the splitter over to my trailer load of big rounds and got set up,

This load is all bigger rounds,

but that's no big deal for this splitter and it was pretty nice out there pushing them through the 4-way wedge...

Definitely, but I prefer not to lose it in the first place. I spend too much money replacing things which I set down and leave, never to be seen again.

I have finally broken my bad habits of setting stuff on the rear bumper or the tool box and forgetting it and driving off. I can't count all the things that came up missing and several days later I remember the last time I saw it was on the bumper or tool box.

Mine cost me $3000, but it came attached to a cable with a winch on the other end.
I have 3 sliders on the winch, and 3 more for spares. I'll be cutting small wood this summer though so will probably make up a few more chokers and put those last 3 sliders on.

June 1 and I had a fire going in the woodstove. Just cedar, but now that it's out I wish I had thrown a stick of hardwood on.

I hauled some more logs today. I’ve been hoarding them hoping log prices will come back up but so far that’s not working. IMG_8770.JPGIMG_8772.JPG

I have darn few videos of winching out logs. I find it a distraction trying to film when doing that kind of work, juggling my phone and the winch control rope while trying to keep an eye on what is going on. I managed a short clip today, winching on a side-hill. Since a lot of the trail we are working on has already been cleared, this one was not too difficult. I was on a side-hill and didn't want the log to catch on some obstacles on the downhill side of the trail, so I rigged a self-releasing snatch block to a tree on the high side to help hold the log up off the low side of the trail.

These are poplar logs. Normally, I don't do much with them, since not many people around here seem interested in poplar. As it turns out, one of the co-owners has a project he wants to use them for.

Neat video J_M. They do like to roll down hill  Good way to control it. I have plenty of popple but would be hard pressed to find one that big. Is that typical size over where you are ?
