I prefer to leave the skins on my potato slices, but my wife likes them peeled. Sometimes I do a pouch each way.

Whew, you later mentioned they were ribeye steaks. I though they might be tortoise steaks. :D
We make potatoes somewhat similar, but we skip the water and add a couple slices if diced bacon and some cheese. Potatoes, onions, butter, salt, pepper, bacon, cheese. Double wrap in foil and toss on the grill, or over a camp fire.

I was just in Cheney yesterday - buying assorted groceries. The price of all "cuts" of beef are high - but they have not increased in the last couple of months here. Hamburger, in all its varieties, still averages $2.98/lb - and basically, all other cuts, go up from there.

I buy chicken, in bulk, 40# box - $1.69/lb. Bring it home - split it up into quart freezer bags - into the freezer.

I do it the same way, also usually with bacon.

I think it's a pretty common recipe, I know lots of folks grill their potatoes that way.

I've never tried it, but a friend says that turtle soup is actually quite tasty. The only bad part is that a couple of hours later he says you start moving v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.

FWIW...
If you believe in Karma...killing a turtle is about the worst thing a human can do...!

As far as table fare...fresh water "soft shell turtle" fried is heavenly...I was given some by some poachers back in the early 60's...along with some gator meat that came from the muscle just behind the front legs..they said it was the "filet minion" of alligator...they sad they use the tail meat for turtle and catfish bait...!!!

Bought a 1/4 of a steer last week - same price as last fall. With the lack of company/visitors (& what was left) we’re good until next spring. Anyhow, bbq season is all set
